Place both thumbs on top of the tear strip and push to break the seal, then pull down the tear strip and repeat on the other side. Open the shell and twist the Stall Snack to remove. Sometimes when the weather is very cold the plastic packaging can become more brittle and difficult to open, in this situation carefully cut down the tear strip with a pair of scissors and then follow the steps as before. Place treat on green "stem" reassemble holder and snap hook. Hang at least 5 ft. from floor and 3 ft. from wall. Recommended intake is up to 300g (10.6 oz.) per head per day. Store under cool dry conditions, away from direct sunlight. 2 year shelf life.

My young horse is in love with this and has stopped chewing on the wood in her stall.

Dangerous Toy

There are several small metal parts that attach the ball to the clip. My horse was able to squeeze the ball and dislodge the pins without damage to the actual ball. I hope I found all the small pieces. These pieces can be ingested or stepped in the stall causing major damage. He also was able to dismantle to apple portion as well - couldn't find all those parts. This all happened over 5 days! Just get a regular Jolly Ball for boredom.

My horse LOVES this!!!!

I recently got one of these miracle workers and my horse can't get enough of it! He has a plain jolly ball but he just lost interest in it, & he also has a likit but has also lost interest in that also. But as soon as I hung this up he was crazy about it. Defiantly a great combination to put together. And I love the smell of the scented ball and the treat mixed together!

Addition: Tried it with the salt...

My horse wasn't interested at all with the snack inserts, so I tried it with the Himalayan salt. She does like the salt inserts a lot! BUT... the metal clips holding the ball to the snack holder rusted within the first two weeks from all the salt dribbling down and eroding them! The green ball was dripping with brown crust which also got inside the ball and was very hard to clean. The clip no longer functions at all from all the erosion. The salt is great, but I would not put it in this holder... And the horse still has no interest in the scented ball.

Good idea, but horse not interested.

It seemed like a cute toy that would keep my young horse busy at night (and I, for one, thought the apple-scent was pretty delicious!), but alas, she seems completely disinterested. I even tried replacing the default "snack" with the Himalayan salt option, but still no dice. She prefers the plain old mineral-block on the wall or stall floor and hasn't touched this since I hung it up. Go figure. I guess it's just not for everyone.

I like the way this is put together, easy to use and will be easy to refill. I do not like the recommend apple snack that comes with it, as my horse does not seem to have any interest in it. Other than that, I think it is a great "toy" to have in the stall.

He's a busy body and when I put this in his stall he went right over to it and played with it. It cures his boredom in his stall

So far, so good! I got this for my yearling stud colt who would get bored and play with things he shouldn't. lol It didn't take long for him to start playing with this instead. He hasn't figured out the snack part but he definitely thinks it's fun! ;)
