Kibble is too large.

Senior Cat Caretaker

Kibble size is massive -- bizarre considering the target audience are senior cats who may have a tougher time swallowing or have few to no teeth. We attempted to crush the kibble into a more suitable size by putting some in a bag and using a mallet. This works pretty well most of the time, but these were incredibly difficult to break down, probably because the kibble itself is rather triangular... you know, a shape known for its structural stability, not it's chewability. Cats can get by just swallowing kibble whole, but it's not ideal, especially so since an older cat is more likely to have a sensitive gut.

No, I do not recommend this product.

I Miss the Old Formula

mw10

I'm so sad they changed the formula. My senior cat loved the previous formula, which helped with his constipation. The new kibbles are way too big for senior cats. I thought I accidentally bought dog food! My little buddy is missing a fang due to tooth resorption and he's having trouble chewing such large kibble. Also, his constipation is back. Please bring back the old formula. It's so much better!

Helps my nearly 11 year old

Mv0000

I switched my nearly 11 year old (recently diagnosed with feline leukemia out of the blue), to this one to see if it would help with her energy and overall health. She seems to be more happy with this one compared to the 7+ indoor. She seems to be throwing up less, not as aggressive (she's very aggressive and it's getting worse with age), and more playful. She's been on science diet her whole life so I haven't noticed much of a change in her coat. I'm not sure if it's the extra immune boosting, the weather, or her body is fighting the leukemia, but I'm glad it's making her happy at her age. The kibble is still slightly smaller, but still a good enough size they don't choke. I wish I could get this 11+ indoor in 15.5 pounds, but I can't find that anywhere.

My cat seems to swallow it whole because the pieces are too big. Why would you change the kibble size for senior cats? Bad marketing move.

Kibble size way too large

H. Thomas

The size of the individual kibble pieces in the indoor dry food is WAY too large. Neither one of my elderly cats will touch it. They will absolutely gobble up the regular 11+ dry cat food, but will leave the 11+ indoor kibble even when mixed. Don't waste your money, just get the regular 11+.

Food pellets are large!

Audrey owner of a senior baby.

I have a 16 year old girl who lost a few teeth. I've been trying to find a hard food that's softer for her as I can tell she's not fond of too crunchy. She's been on the Hills prescription diet for early support kidney food, but we switched it up. Our goal is to help her gain weight and if I can find a hard food she'll eat and be happy with will be the day!!! I just want her to stay full or not puke all the food back up. She has a hyperthyroid as well so the weight gain is very much necessary for her! However I was hoping with this being 11+ food that the kibble would be way smaller! I was shocked to see how large the pieces were!! And it'd be a little understandable if they piece were at least a little softer than normal hard food, but it's not. So I'm not sure if the point of having the large food for older cats is so they don't inhale it and so they can digest it better. I'm not sure, but it's still strange to me that they're so large for older senior cats. She likes the food here and there.. but I think it's still too hard so, unfortunately looks like I'll have to take it back to the pet store and figure something else out. This isn't to make people not buy the product because you should try, i mostly am confused on the size is all.
