Greasy Hills Puppy Formula

TShoe

Hills Science was recommended by my veterinarian for our new puppy. Two different Veterinarians with 20 plus years of experience each. So from 12 weeks to recently a year old pup we have been feeding this as well as the other Brand recommended by both veterinarians Purina Proplan Sensitive stomach. The Hills has over a year showed greasy kibble in half the bags. We are always returning to Petco, Petsmart and throwing out what we purchased from Chewy’s. Hills advised me this week the cause of the greasy kibble issue is environmental. So logically your organization knows there is an issue why not fix it. Do the scientists 72 veterinary experts you have nutritionist test the product consumers get when opening the bag after the environmental issue occurs. How do we know after the environmental issue, that the food is safe and meets guidelines before feeding it? They only test prior to it going out? Then the rep mentioned distribution centers, environmental. Will they also blame Petco, Petsmart and Chrwys all three for the environmental issue. Take accountability Hills, fix it, test it when the bag is opened as a consumer from the shelves of a retailer. This is not satisfactory for an organization with 72 veterinary experts, the phone rep vouched for all the veterinary experts creating their formulas. Maybe it is time to build a new team. My pup became very sick when eating this one formula for 4 months, I called the two manufacturers that make the food he has eaten from 12 weeks of age to a year old now. Hills please since you are aware of the environmental issues that occur with your sensitive stomach puppy formula please use logic and test the product again since that is what your consumers are feeding when they open your bags.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Hill's Pet Nutrition
We are disappointed to hear of your experience. The topical ingredients used in this food have not changed, nor has the amount used in the finished product. Our operational group can adjust the percentages of fat used at varying points of production, (i.e. internal or external to the kibble) however, the amount of fat added to the product remains the same. In this situation, you may notice that this kibble appears to have a greasy texture as compared to previous bags.

Environmental factors regarding the greasy kibble refers to the temperature at which the kibble or fat is processed, particularly when fat is applied to the external surface of the kibble. If either the fat or the kibble is at a slightly lower temperature, the fat might solidify before it can be absorbed all the way, resulting in less effective penetration into the kibble. Although the product's fat levels remain within specifications, inadequate fat absorption can lead to a greasier appearance. My English Bulldog puppy’s system didn’t agree with the lamb version of this brand. We tried this sensitive stomach version and it worked! Love the thick bag with easy Velcro closure at the top for freshness! Make a bigger bag!

My 3 month old puppy would not eat his royal canin kibble unless I mixed with wet, and came up with all kinds of ideas to get him to eat. I decided to give this a try. He ate it so fast and asked for more. He loves this stuff with nothing mixed with it.

Yes, I recommend this product.
