I would say a more complete answer to this question is that it does not come with any instructions or hardware for mounting this to a wall. K&H designed this item to be door-mounted. That being said, I don't see why this couldn't be mounted to a wall if you are willing to do things like find your studs, and create you own hardware setup to get this mounted securely into wall studs only....no drywall only mounting. The distance between all the hanging straps will probably not match up exactly to your stud distances, but since the straps are adjustable, you may be able to make something work. The trick would be using the correct, safe mounting hardware. To be extra careful, you may also need to add reinforcing stitching to the hanging straps. To mount on the wall, something like bike hooks secured directly into studs, with the top set the normal way up, and the bottom set upside down may provide strong enough anchors. You could then attach the straps and tighten them to make the condo secure. A better idea would likely be to set two 2x4s or something like long metal brackets on your wall, directly into the wall studs, and then secure the condo to those just as if a door was being used. Since I do not yet own one of these, I can only make suggestions, but I would think anything is possible if you are handy.

There are no openings on the back side. The door I have mine hanging on has a window and you can't see anything through that window now from the outside except for the material on the back side of the cat condo. It wouldn't cause problems on a normal door. I am in a mobile home and there is a wall right beside the door so we just don't open the door all the way anymore. If we need to in order to bring anything large into the house we just take it off of the door until we are through and then hang it back up. As far as the inside goes, the openings are at opposite ends of the platforms. They can go down to the next level on one end and then on that next level they go to the other end of the platform to go on down to the next floor. I actually like it better that way so they can't try to jump down more than one level when they are playing inside it.

Thank you for your question. The manufacturer states it can hold up to 75lbs. Since it is anchored on both the top and bottom of the door it can hold a lot of weight. cjm
