Our one year picked this one!

RetiredDan

We just started using this about 2 months ago. We moved our 1 year old to this and she really seems to like. We did comparisons with other brands for a couple of weeks and she kept coming back to this one. We were using another brand before switching to Hills. She seems happy and we are happy. Couldn't ask for anything more!

Dogs happy, I am less so

I’ve been relatively pleased with the product and with hills. My dog loves the kibble and has been on it since he was at the shelter where we adopted him from. the food itself seems to be fine however i’m a little disgruntled with the company for not disclosing or announcing that they had made a new formula. It’s upsetting that they wouldn’t make it clear to pet owners especially because they drive how important nutritional health and being educated on it is. We as consumers deserve to know when adjustments are being made to our dogs diet. I didn’t know the formula was changed and now don’t have any of the old formula to help transition him over to the new one. It’s frustrating that as a company you guys drive the importance of being educated on your dogs nutritional needs and then wouldn’t inform your consumers of changes. It feels deceptive. and after reading some of the ingredient changes i’m not sure i’m very happy with some of the things that were cut out. There are no longer any fruits or vegetables listed that i saw, and there’s a lot of random junk it seems that’s been added. I’ll still continue to use the product as it what my dog seems to like and responds too however as a company they should be doing better about informing consumers before they make changes to the formula and be clear about what changes they’re making and why. Its unnerving to open a bag of food and expect one thing and get something different.

Thank you for your review. Hill’s Pet Nutrition has been working to develop enhanced formulas which will now feature the revolutionary ActivBiome+ Multi-Benefit bundle. Bags with the new formulation will have "ActivBiome+ Multi-Benefit" indications on the front and back. Additionally, bags produced shortly before the new formula featured a "Coming Soon" label with a QR code for more information.

Too much rice for sensitive stomach

We loved the old recipe for Science Diet Chicken and Barley, but the new one doesn't work for us. Through many many many sleepless nights, we learned that one of our dogs is sensitive to rice. The old recipe for Chicken and Barley was the only commercially produced dog food we had found that wasn't grain-free and had a small enough amount of rice for her to tolerate. The new recipe has substantially more rice, beyond what she can handle. I really hope they bring back the old recipe for dogs like her, unfortunately, the search is on for a new dog food yet again.

Thank you for your feedback. To maintain our leadership in nutritional health care for companion animals, we periodically make changes to product formulas to incorporate additional health or product design benefits. Despite the favorable benefits gained through the reformulation, our pets are creatures of habit and may need a little help to get accustomed to the change in the food. When the formula is changed, we recommend a transition from the old to the new formula. Our suggested transition process is: Day 1 & 2: 75% Old food, 25% New food Day 3 & 4: 50% Old food, 50% New food Day 5 & 6: 25% Old food, 75% New food Day 7: 100% New food We offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee on all of our products, if you would like to return the unused portion to the place of purchase for a refund or exchange.
