Dogs with recurrent gastrointestinal upset may have a food or fat sensitivity. Dogs that have a food allergy (typically to a protein in the food) or intolerance, may respond to a food designed for food sensitivities while dogs with a fat sensitivity require a low fat food but determining which nutrition to use is frequently a trial and error process. With this in mind, Hill's nutritionists and veterinarians developed Prescription Diet z/d Low Fat, which is clinical nutrition specially formulated for dogs with food and fat sensitivities.

My one year-old French bulldog and Boston terrier mix was diagnosed with a food intolerance. Her body is unable to break down the proteins in her food. Hope veterinarian prescribed hills ZD ultra canned dog food. I am thrilled with the hills brand reviews that I have been seeing. Can you recommend a different food that I can feed her.
Recently my vet suggested changing my Golden Doodles food from Blue Buffalo Freedom Chicken recipe to ZD Hills Prescription Diet due to reoccurring ear infections and licking of paws. She thought a digestive and allergy issue. Is there a comparable brand or food that may be a better fit? Although our Blue Buffalo is pricing, this price point for the ZD is not attainable for us to continue. She spoke of hydrolized protein being important but it's not economical either. Thank you!
I currently feed my male dog prescription Hill's z/d dry dog food I get from his vet. My female dog, who is on a normal food diet and does not need z/d food, wants to eat only the male's z/d food. It is challenging keeping them separated at meal time. Is there a comparable non-prescription food I can feed my female from Hill's that I can buy from Petco at a (considerably) lower price than the z/d?
Hi how would you compare blue buffalo Rx diet HF hydrolyzed canned food to hills Z/d hydrolyzed rx canned diet? Trying to find an alternative to royal Canin Selected protein Rx diets which Trixie will no longer eat .. nor does she like the hills z/d. Thanks
I have an 8 year old female Min Pin / Rat Terrier mix who is about 6 lbs over weight. She’s currently on Hills Science Diet Youthful Vitality, but her vet said she should be on a grain less low calorie food. What do you suggest? I’d like to keep it in the Hills line if possible, unless they don’t have that kind of option. Thank you.
My vet Recommend Hill’s prescription diet for for 14lb dog who is overweight. Is there another more affordable option for her ?
What is the best dry food for allergies and weight control?
Our dog is diabetic and diagnosed with Cushing disease he currently eats Hill Prescription I/d is there a lessor expensive food e can give him?
I have a dog with severe yeast on his belly and feet. I bathe him regularly in medicated shampoo but he’s definitely allergic to ALL sugar. Blueberries have a lot of sugar, didn’t work for him. Peas and carrots had to many. I’ve found the spinach with chicken and beans has helped a lot. He is 6 yrs old. Can you give me any dry dog food options that would even work for him? I did find a Science Diet called Z/D. Right now he can only eat what I prepare.
Hello- Chester has been on prescription dry dog food (z/d) for approximately 8 months. He was prescribed this after bouts of loose stool. (First we had him on this yellow powder med and it worked but once he was off that the firm stool eent back to mush) I did have him on the vegan natural balance formula before switching to the z/d. As this is very expensive, I am wondering if it would be okay to try him on a new food. Was thinking the Rachel ray zero grain dry food. Thoughts?
My 7 year old Beagle who has Lupus is taking 5 mg's of Prednisone every other day and needs to lose 10 pounds. Could you please recommend a food.
Is Wellness Complete Health Natural Senior Recipe a option for feeding a 14 year diabetic dog with pancreatitis who refuses to eat the prescription Hill's Science Diet w/d or Royal Canin foods?
