Dogs need the right balance of minerals to maintain good bladder health. Excess minerals can encourage the formation of crystals in the urine, which can lead to the creation of bladder stones. Please consult with your veterinarian if your dog is showing urinary signs such as frequent urination, blood in the urine, or others. Hill's nutritionists and veterinarians have developed Prescription Diet u/d clinical nutrition to be specially formulated to help support your dog's bladder health. Hill's Prescription Diet u/d is complete and balanced food that provides all the nutrition your dog needs. This canned food is made with chicken flavor and has a ground texture with an irresistible taste that dogs love.

My 3 year old 23lb. male corgi has a history of developing cystine crystals in his urinary tract and was put on Hill's U/D canned food as a result. I have been reading online about alkaline diets and was wondering if we could prepare food for him at home that would be sufficient in preventing the formation of the cystine crystals. The food he is on currently is very expensive ($42-$46 every 12 days). How can we determine the correct amount of homemade food or his weight and breed?
One of our male cats recdently had a blockage and we had to take him to emergency. We got there in the nick of time, he was going into kidney failure! Naturally he now has to be on special prescription food. The Hill's c/d he doesn't like at all. The Royal Canin he tolerates but will hardly eat it. I always try to mix something else in but it's just a chore to get him to eat now and the poor guy is hungry. He does love Royal Canin's dry SO food and treats. What else can I feed him?
My cat was almost two he was diagnosed w/FLUTD and had crystals in his urine. He had a perineal urethrostomy after being diagnosed. He was originally on hills science c/d and s/d but that became very expensive. He has been one Purina One urinary tract health dry food for about 1.5 years and has had no urinating issues. I want him to lose weight (18lbs) & don't know if his wet food should be urinary or weight loss focused and what his dry food should focus on since I'm doing a mixed diet.
Hi! Tony has been eating wet/canned royal canin aging 12+ , heโs 18 years old , and I wanted an opinion on this food as far as senior diets go. My vet had me try rx veterinary hills g/d canned food but he didnโt like it. is the aging 12+ a good senior diet option for a food lower in phosphorus and sodium? Thx!
Noticed 12 yr. F. Lab Retriever having trouble releasing urine. Visit to vet for vaccine, felt dogs tummy and suggested ultra sound. Suggested immediate surgery because many stones seen. After surgery said most stones ever seen. I saw them, 15 lbs of stones. Says needs to be on Royal Canine Urinary SO dog food for life. She is not tolerating more than 1/2 her food being this food. Am mixing with her old food Blue Buffalo Senior. Now suggesting other Brand. Need special food for life?
My 8 y/o male cat had his first bout of cystitis a few weeks ago, my vets only solution was to give Rx food (Hills, Royal Canin or ProPlan) these all have fish products in them (even non fish flavors) and my cat is allergic. They have no other suggestions and said he will have another issue if he's not on that food. I've read about Wysong Uretic wet food, Wysong Biotic ph- supplement, Cystease, Tinkle Tonic, etc - would anything else work as an alternative? PLEASE HELP!
RE: DOG FOOD My dog is eating Hill's science diet 7+ Active Longevity Small Bites (chicken meal, rice & Barley recipe) for years. But I found out Hill's is recalling their dog foods recently and I am worrying the dog food my dog eating now also have the problems. Should I change other brands OR I cook chicken breast with carrot and broccoli for her instead? or other foods you recommend? She had pancreatitis 2 times and consulted the vet and was told she cannot eat too much oily food.
My dog has protein in his urine. Is it okay to give him an egg or tuna occasionally. He is currently on Hills prescription diet for kidney's.
My dog has kidney disease. She's on hills kd diet but refuse to eat it without meat. What is the best meat for her to have?
What would be the best wet dog food for her weighing 3.3 lbs. 4 years and has Periodontal desease? And can I purchase at Petco or Petsmart? Thank you
I currently feed my male dog prescription Hill's z/d dry dog food I get from his vet. My female dog, who is on a normal food diet and does not need z/d food, wants to eat only the male's z/d food. It is challenging keeping them separated at meal time. Is there a comparable non-prescription food I can feed my female from Hill's that I can buy from Petco at a (considerably) lower price than the z/d?
My male cat blocked twice in June & again in July last year. After spending time in the hospital he is doing fine. No relapses. I feed him. c/d Science Hill wet & hard. Is it ok to give him boiled chicken on an occasion?
