Lucy has a cruciate ligament injury on her right back leg. She has muscle atrophy as well. It was diagnosed a month ago. She has metacam if she seem to be more uncomfortable. Her weight was 96.8 lbs a month ago and today she was 96.2 lbs. Her vet said to cut her food down from 3 cups of dry food to 2 cups a day. She doesn't really get exercise due to her leg. Just recused this little guy... very malnourished, just started gaining some weight. He is missing many teeth so eating is a problem, he does he the small bites. My dog has been on a homemade diet after being diagnosed with stage 3 kidney disease. I have been giving high quality lean protein with white rice & squash along with supplements-Hawthorne berry, CoQ10, ipakitine & vitamin b12. Now that I've reduced the protein even more in his meals, he doesn't seem as interested in eating as he was. Can I add chicken broth? Homemade with just dark chicken meat - no bones as I know they are high in phosphorus or will this addition be too high in protein?
