When dogs have damage to kidney tissues, the kidneys cannot perform as well as before, like filtering and reabsorbing nutrients. The condition is not reversible, but progression may be slowed. Therapeutic foods for kidney conditions are designed to help reduce workload on the kidneys, enabling them to function more effectively. Dogs with decreased kidney function may experience loss of appetite and their food intake might decline. Hill's nutritionists and veterinarians developed Hill's Prescription Diet k/d clinical nutrition with ActivBiome+ Kidney Defense, a proprietary blend of prebiotics shown to activate the gut microbiome to help protect kidney function. Prescription Diet k/d is also formulated with Enhanced Appetite Trigger (E.A.T) to stimulate appetite and encourage food intake. This dry food is made with lamb and has an irresistible taste that your dog will love.

My dog has kidney disease. She's on hills kd diet but refuse to eat it without meat. What is the best meat for her to have?
Kindly, What is the correct nutrition for my dog who has kidney problems?
Hello my dogs having kidney problems and hasn't eaten probably in a few day. Been to the vet and the can't tell me much. Is lamb all right to feed her
Kidney disease dog on renal support diet, she eats only 1 cup twice a day along with her meds and is gaining so much weight. is it diet?
We have a 25 lb labradoodle that must eat hills prescription diet w/d. She has slowly gotten tired of the food and we have been adding bits of chicken and even hamburger to get her to eat. That has been successful but is now wearing off to the point where all she wants is the meat. Any suggestions as to how to entice her to eat? She is healthy otherwise.
I recently asked how I can help Minnie loose weight because she is 13 pounds, and my response was to put her on a Science Diet metabolic weight management diet. My responder said it had good outcomes with his previous patients, but was he talking about the Hill’s Prescription Diet Metabolic Weight Management Dog Food? And if it is, is there a specific flavor that is best to use for her weight loss plan? Also, I live in Arizona — with terrible heat. I was told to walk her 3-4 times a day. Can I?
My dog was diagnosed with kidney disease. We tried many kind of low phosphorus diets and she snubbed everything. But she's hungry! I've been feeding her 90/10 lean ground beef and rice. Her appetite is less than normal but she's eating. I'm making sure she takes her phosphorus binder and Omega. Is she better off not eating? Lost. Don't want to euthanize her.
What would be the best wet dog food for her weighing 3.3 lbs. 4 years and has Periodontal desease? And can I purchase at Petco or Petsmart? Thank you
I currently feed my male dog prescription Hill's z/d dry dog food I get from his vet. My female dog, who is on a normal food diet and does not need z/d food, wants to eat only the male's z/d food. It is challenging keeping them separated at meal time. Is there a comparable non-prescription food I can feed my female from Hill's that I can buy from Petco at a (considerably) lower price than the z/d?
My 3 year old 23lb. male corgi has a history of developing cystine crystals in his urinary tract and was put on Hill's U/D canned food as a result. I have been reading online about alkaline diets and was wondering if we could prepare food for him at home that would be sufficient in preventing the formation of the cystine crystals. The food he is on currently is very expensive ($42-$46 every 12 days). How can we determine the correct amount of homemade food or his weight and breed?
RE: DOG FOOD My dog is eating Hill's science diet 7+ Active Longevity Small Bites (chicken meal, rice & Barley recipe) for years. But I found out Hill's is recalling their dog foods recently and I am worrying the dog food my dog eating now also have the problems. Should I change other brands OR I cook chicken breast with carrot and broccoli for her instead? or other foods you recommend? She had pancreatitis 2 times and consulted the vet and was told she cannot eat too much oily food.
Bella has kidney disease, and won't eat prescription diet hill's I would like to start cooking a diet any idea
