When dogs have damage to kidney tissues, the kidneys cannot perform as well as before, like filtering and reabsorbing nutrients. The condition is not reversible, but progression may be slowed. Therapeutic foods for kidney conditions are designed to help reduce workload on the kidneys, enabling them to function more effectively. Dogs with decreased kidney function may experience loss of appetite and their food intake might decline. Hill's nutritionists and veterinarians developed Hill's Prescription Diet k/d clinical nutrition to help protect your dog's vital kidney function and is available in multiple wet forms & flavors to entice even the pickiest of eaters. This canned food is made with chicken and has a ground texture with an irresistible taste that your dog will love. In fact, the nutrition of Prescription Diet k/d is clinically proven nutrition to improve & lengthen quality of life.

Hi tony is on Rx hills KD kidney care chicken canned diet. I often have to give him a bit of a topper to add some flavor I guess and get him going... do you know if hills science diet healthy cuisine adult 11+ may be a food lower in phosphorus and protein as to not be as harmful to the kidneys? I’m Not able to find these nutritional values on the can. thanks!
My dog has kidney disease. She's on hills kd diet but refuse to eat it without meat. What is the best meat for her to have?
Hi tony eats a hills kd chicken Rx canned diet. He often gets tired of it and I switch to other kidney diets but when that no longer works I top his food with a little baby food (pic below) and he seems to enjoy the taste and will lick the bowl clean. Is this harmful to add some of this to his kidney diet, protein-wise?? If so ,other suggestions for making kidney food more appetizing? Thx

I feed my cat Hill's Prescription Diet k/d Early Support Chicken Canned Cat Food, and order it from chewy.com, but the are out of stock and vet doesn't carry it. She has only 10 cans left. Is there any other place to get this food quickly?
Hi I was speaking with one of your vets before about senior diet cat foods that are less stressful on the kidneys. Suggestions were purina pro plan 11+, hills science 11+ & royal canin aging 12+, all canned. He wasn't crazy about these but seems to like hills science diet mature 7+ savory chicken minced canned entree. It says its also lower in phosphorus but would love someone's opinion or experience with this food. Thx!!
what and how to feed a dog that has kidney failure and wont eat anything but cooked salmon??? She rather starve then eat anything else I offered. Hills k/d, and a/d, cooked eggwhite,
My dog has a history of urinary infections so is permanently on a diet of Hills UD wet food but I've run out and the tins are out of stock everywhere?
My cat has been on Hills KD for over a year now because of her failing kidneys which is under control now. She also has high BP and is on daily medicine. She is 14. I am a pensioner and the hills is so expensive for me. Is there a cheaper way of feeding without compromising her health. Thank you
What is the best dry and wet food for cats with & kidney health issues?
my 12 year old cat was recently diagnosed with early stages of kidney disease. i had her eating the dry food from Hills K/D and she was ok with that. Then i moved her to the wet food because she stopped eating the dry. now she’ll eat the wet food for a day or so and then refuses. the only food she never misses a meal is fancy feast pate and blue buffalo healthy gourmet pate. i know commercial food isn’t great, but are either of these foods near the percentile a kidney cat needs?
Looking for the best dog food for out 11 year old airedale who could be starting with kidney disease. He had slightly elevated protein in his urine. He is allergic to chiken.
