When dogs have damage to kidney tissues, the kidneys cannot perform as well as before, like filtering and reabsorbing nutrients. The condition is not reversible, but progression may be slowed. Therapeutic foods for kidney conditions are designed to help reduce workload on the kidneys, enabling them to function more effectively. Dogs with decreased kidney function may experience loss of appetite and their food intake might decline. Hill's nutritionists and veterinarians developed Hill's Prescription Diet k/d clinical nutrition to help protect your dog's vital kidney function and is available in multiple wet forms & flavors to entice even the pickiest of eaters. This irresistible stew has tasty bite-sized chunks in gravy and is made with wholesome ingredients like beef & vegetables that your dog will love. In fact, the nutrition of Prescription Diet k/d is clinically proven nutrition to improve & lengthen quality of life.

My dog has kidney disease. She's on hills kd diet but refuse to eat it without meat. What is the best meat for her to have?
Hi tony eats a hills kd chicken Rx canned diet. He often gets tired of it and I switch to other kidney diets but when that no longer works I top his food with a little baby food (pic below) and he seems to enjoy the taste and will lick the bowl clean. Is this harmful to add some of this to his kidney diet, protein-wise?? If so ,other suggestions for making kidney food more appetizing? Thx
What else can I add to supplement my Dog's diet? He's just had the Bladder surgery but ongoing monthly costs for a 35kg dog on other than Hills Prescription u/d diet (375kg.) dry ^ Hills UD 375 cans (I've purchased a month's worth) is VERY expensive on an ongoing basis.Thank you
My dog a few weeks ago she vomited so I gave her chicken n rice with Prescription Hills K/D she she got better now she wants it every time...now she wont eat without! I had no ideal chicken can cause her functions to get high...so I Changed her to Royal Canin exclusive Renal in a can its its like thick Pate' so I add water to soften it up! she eats it now but has not poops day 2. I'm worried now

Hi tony is on Rx hills KD kidney care chicken canned diet. I often have to give him a bit of a topper to add some flavor I guess and get him going... do you know if hills science diet healthy cuisine adult 11+ may be a food lower in phosphorus and protein as to not be as harmful to the kidneys? I’m Not able to find these nutritional values on the can. thanks!
My cat has been on Hills KD for over a year now because of her failing kidneys which is under control now. She also has high BP and is on daily medicine. She is 14. I am a pensioner and the hills is so expensive for me. Is there a cheaper way of feeding without compromising her health. Thank you
cheap dog food that helps dogs liver
My dog has a history of urinary infections so is permanently on a diet of Hills UD wet food but I've run out and the tins are out of stock everywhere?
My 9yr old dog has stage 2 kidney failure. He is on Hills kidney diet dry food. He does not like it. He still tries to go for his previous food ( which my other dog is still eating). So it's not his lack of appetite, he just will not touch it. I don't want to see him go hungry. Is there any human food I could add to this that is safe for kidney failure? To make it more appetizing. Maybe rice?
