Great for pancreatitis!

Janet

My vet recommended this food when my 9 year old mixed breed dog was diagnosed with pancreatitis. I had been feeding him Fr*shP*t, which he loved, but the fat content was too high for a dog with pancreatitis. Vet said not to bother transitioning over a week's time in this case. Switched immediately and noticed immediate improvement!

This ha really changed. Some cans of the food hard and difficult to get out of the can. Some cans of food are very soft. Why are you using ground pecan shells in the food. What are the benefits of that.? Looks like I will have to find another brand of I/D .

Thank you for your review. The formula for this product has not changed. Dry and crumbly canned product can be the result of exposure to very cold temperatures during transportation and distribution. Ground pecan shell has been approved by AAFCO as a source of dietary fiber. It’s an important piece of our ActivBiome+ ingredient technology, which is clinically shown to rapidly activate the gut microbiome to support digestive health and well-being.

My Chihuahua puppy is so picky. Everything upsets her stomach. She ends up disliking everything after one or two feedings. Until now! This is the only food she loves eating. Thank God for Hills!

CONTAINS NUTS!!! This dog food contains PECAN shells and it is nearly impossible to see this ingredient. There needs to be a warning somewhere on the ingredients label stating it contains nuts! I am severely allergic to nuts and had to return this product because of the this ingredient.

Thank you for your feedback. It is our goal that the label content and design will contribute to the overall Hill's pet food experience by providing a valuable guide for the use of the product. We are disappointed to hear that we did not meet your expectations. Ground pecan shells received an official AAFCO definition in 2011 with an intended use as a source of dietary fiber. In a pecan cracking plant, the pecan shell receives water washings, a 180 degree hot water wash and subsequent drying after separation from pecan meats. There is no warning on the bag concerning nut meat contamination as this level is expected to be in the low parts per million level. Ground pecan shells are included in our ActivBiome+ Ingredient Technology which is a proprietary blend of prebiotics shown to rapidly activate the gut microbiome to support digestive health and well-being. Please know that all of our products and their ingredients are listed on our website on the product page.

The Food Has Been a Blessing. The new can...we fixed the issue.

I agree that this prescription food for my Malti/Poo works great. And as others have said regarding the pull top can design, we have the same problem, IF we use the pull top. The product doesn't want to slide out of the can as it previously has. However, my work around is simple. I have just gone back to using the same OXO Smooth Edge Can Opener - https://www.oxo.com/smooth-edge-can-opener-437.html Now, I am not trying to sell a product here, I'm just letting everyone know that for us, this has taken all of the frustration out of trying to get the product out of the can. Keep up the good work with the product. It's helped "Lucy" our 1 1/2 yr old girl tremendously.

My 6 yrs old dog was just diagnosed with cancer. They gave him this and he kinda took to it. Its so expensive. I didn't buy him any, until now. He won't eat anything else. The can I got seems to be very dry. Is it supposed to be that way?

  1. We are disappointed to hear of your recent experience. We want to assure you this consistency variation has no effect on the nutritional value of the food. It sounds like you might have received product that has been exposed to very cold temperatures. If your pet is responding differently to the food, you may try heating the food in the microwave for a few seconds to release aroma or try adding warm water before feeding. We offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee. If you would like to take advantage of our guarantee, please return the unused portion of the product to the place of purchase for a refund or exchange. Hill's Pet Nutrition

why is the moisture not listed in the analysis?

  1. Thank you for your question. We are happy to help! Our canned foods have about 70-80% moisture. Hill's Pet Nutrition
