AWFUL NEW CONSISTENCY

MKD

You changed the consistency of this canned food and it is AWFUL…gummy…can’t get it off the spoon, can has ridges so you lose a lot of it in the ridges, just awful to manage and use. Bring back the old formula where the food stuck to itself and not everything else. In terms of physics, you changed it so the force of adhesion is stronger than the force of cohesion, which is opposite of what it used to be.

Thank you for reaching out. We are disappointed to hear of your experience. Please know, we have not recently changed the formulation of this product. While it is difficult to tell the exact cause for this change in texture, we can assure you that this variation has no impact on the nutritional value of the food. Some possible causes of the variation are the freshness of the product or temperatures the food has been exposed to during distribution. A freshly produced product can appear softer or stickier and will generally increase in firmness as it ages. Some formulas with higher starch levels, can take longer for the starch to regenerate into a firmer loaf. Some products may experience textural changes upon large temperature fluctuations. High temperatures won't allow the starches to re-associate which leaves the product sticky. All of our products are 100% satisfaction guaranteed. If you would like to take advantage of this guarantee, please return the unused portion of the product to the place of purchase for a refund or exchange.

Change in texture

The wet food has changed in texture for the worse. It used to be in a loaf and now it is a sticky mush. How could it be that you have no idea why the texture has changed?

What changed?

This food was such a blessing when we started our dog on it over a year ago. We never had any issues getting her to eat it. The two most recent bags she won’t eat it unless we top it with some freeze dried salmon. Something had to change?

Canned Food mushy!!

Gogracie

What changed with this canned food. It is mushy and hard to get out of the can. It’s sticky and won’t blend with kibble. Previously the food was drier and you could flake it with a fork. This is horrible!!! picture of original canned food and picture of mushy food….

Awful New recipe

Ithaden

We have been using this product for many years but the last three cases are just terrible. It has the consistency of sticky tomato paste that sticks all over his face and seems to coat his teeth! Unless it changes back, we are going to have to switch.

Change in texture, gooey

Nadine

My dog has been on this for months and done well, but the last 2 cases have a mushy, gooey texture as opposed to a firm texture as before. Since there are other reviews stating a change in texture as well , I don't think this is an isolated issue. I will be changing foods immediately.

Canned Food Texture of Peanut Butter

Woodie16

I had been purchasing this product from my Vet for my elderly dog for many years in the kibble formula. I had been very satisfied with the kibble but as my dog aged and doesn't have as good of teeth any longer, I switched him to this canned version. He was doing very well with it until the new cases arrived. I opened a can last night and the consistency is that of peanut butter. It is so sticky that all he does is push the bowl around on the floor trying to get the food. Then he falls down because he does not have the use of his rear legs any longer. I am very discouraged by whatever change you made to this food. Will you be going back to the original formula/texture? I am going to have to return 2 cases of unopened food to my Vet since my dog cannot even eat this!

If you go from using an older can to a newer can, there might be a noticeable difference in texture. This can be compared to preparing spaghetti. After cooking the spaghetti, it is very soft and moist. If maintained in a hot environment, it stays moist and soft for much longer than if placed in a fridge and exposed to cooler temperatures.

Different formula!

Deb630

This product was great until the texture changed. It is sticky and gummy. The formula had to have been changed since this seems like a completely different dog food. Although I will still feed my dog Derm Complete dry, I am looking for a different wet food. I am highly disappointed. This is an expensive food and seems almost inedible due to the change in consistency and texture.
