As kibble goes, this helps your dog. But it is best kept at 50% of the daily food or less, combined with wet food as the dry food is itself harder on your older dog's kidneys. My dog immediately improved when I switched to the mix. If you can afford to make or buy fresh food -- frozen, to thaw in the fridge -- earlier on, it's a good call.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Petco Meets My Needs

I have been ordering for delivery the Hills prescription diet from Petco for a few years now. When my Bichon/mix furbaby was first put on a prescription diet I bought his food in a store. But now I am on a scheduled delivery which is so much easier. I do not worry about receiving it on a regular basis. I'll continue to use Petco for his food as well as his vaccination updates.

No, I do not recommend this product.

My girl doesn't need surgery now!

My Bull mix breed had an UTI three weeks ago and when took her to the vet the ultrasound showed a large bladder stone. He recommended Hills c/d to be her only food to eat for 3 weeks to desolve the stone. I took her today for her recheck and the stone is completely gone! My dog has no upset stomach transitioning to c/d and also her breath is so much better than before, because she used to have horrible bad breath even after brushing her teeth. I'm grateful for this food, it helped my girl so much and doesn't need surgery now. Vet is ordering her a special Hills food dire to maintain her urinary health.

Thank you for your feedback. We are disappointed to hear of your experience. While it is unusual to find burned kibbles in a bag of food, some kibbles may have become stuck within the dryers/ovens and then come loose and fall back into the process. A slightly overcooked piece of food would cause no harm to your pet. All of our products are 100% satisfaction guaranteed. If you would like to take advantage of this guarantee, please return the unused portion of the product to the place of purchase for a refund or exchange.

Good product, but inconsistent

My dog has been on a mix of chicken canned and dry. It has kept him from getting more stones. The consistency of the product varies greatly. The last bag I got was overcooked one one side and he barely eats it. The canned varies from very moist to almost powdery.

Thank you for your review. While it is unusual to find burned kibbles in a bag of food, some kibbles may have become stuck within the dryers/ovens and then come loose and fall back into the process. Additionally, normal variations in the texture of our canned products can occur as a result of normal variations in ingredients or processing, including environmental conditions during transportation and distribution.

Extremely beneficial for bladder health

casey

I overall LOVE this food for our dog. She used to get really bad crystals in her bladder and after using this has not had any issues for 4 years!! Now my only question I'm pretty sure she's allergic to the chicken...if she changes over to the allergy food, will it still help her not get crystals? Trying to figure which one to go for.

Good evening, I'm from Ecuador and I'm going to Miami next week. My dog needs this food and in my country they don't sell it and I usually travel to buy it. Can I present my vet's prescription in Ecuador? How many days does arrive it to my hotel ?

Can this diet be mixed with any other food or treats not prescription?

    1. It is best to consult with your veterinarian. The sole purpose of this food is to help with a condition believed to be caused by or contributed to from giving table food so it defeats the purpose to mix in and keep giving other food.

This food goes against all I believe in with for one corn being the first ingredient. How can this be so beneficial to correcting & stones?

    1. I understand...the only thing I can say for certainty is that my hound has stopped having stones and crystals ever since has been on this food. She has been on this for the 5 years that I have owned her. Must be the formulations other than the corn amount that is the secret.

My dog is having constant urinary tract infections and my vet wants me to try feeding her this. Has anyone else used it for that purpose? Did it work?

    1. Yes! My girl was so full of bladder stones when I noticed blood in her urine. My vet wanted to preform surgery on her. After about a month on the SD diet the stones were half there original size. In another month they were completely gone. I now have her mom, dad and two brothers on the maintenance CD diet. We have not had to have surgery and there has been no repeat of the stones

Can I buy this product without prescription? Actually my dog was prescibed this product when we was in Korea. We just moved from Korea. So I have to buy this product. How can I buy this product ?

    1. Hi Emily_Komi, This will need a prescription. The website will ask for your vet information during the order process. Thanks,
