My cat loves it. It is the only canned urinary food that he will eat. But it is so expensive!! When will you make it in 5.5 oz?

I was told to go on this prescription food by the vet when my cat was completely blocked. He seems to like the food after we had an adjustment period. I give him his probiotics in his food along with his prescribed medications. If he is happy then I’m happy. I don’t care the cost tbh, as long as it will keep him from getting blocked, my emotions can’t take that again.

Please make this in the 5.5 oz can!!! This is the only flavor my cats like and it is too expensive to feed two cats the small cans.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is based on my experience with my cat's urinary blockage and months of testing and diet changes. Main takeaways: - if your cat, particularly male cat, is in need of an immediately acidifying diet to dissolve struvite crystals or stones, buy the Hill's WET S/D. Your cat needs the wet version and specifically the ingredients in the S/D to aggressively dissolve the struvite crystals (note that DL-methionine isn't listed in c/d but is in s/d) - This is a TEMPORARY solution! Please test your cat's urine after 2 weeks on this diet. Once crystals/stones are dissolved, change the diet to a healthy and species appropriate wet food or better yet raw food. Longterm use of an acidifying diet can lead to a different type of crystal: oxalate which can occur in the kidneys (trust me, avoid a dangerous surgery) - the best diet longterm is high in water and low in minerals (magnesium, calcium, phosphorus). The aforementioned 3 minerals are heavily found in bones and fish, so bones should only make up a small portion of the meal (mimic the prey of cats in the wild) and avoid fish (which can be very addicting)

It seems that EVERY flavor of the urinary care wet food has "Pork Liver.." as it's main ingredient. The food does seem to work for its purpose, but has Hills ever considered making a version of ANY flavor without pork?

By what means does this urinary care diet help a cat's urinary health, for example: reduces urinary PH, provides low dietary magnesium, encourages hydration if so, how; What is the moisture, phosphorus, magnesium and sodium content?

I can't answer the above question. What I do know is that my cat, Alvin, had PU surgery in 7/18 & it's 3 years later & he's still doing fine. And he loves the food.

It has also been out of stock through our vet’s online pharmacy. We switched to Royal Canin SO, which is also prescription and for urinary health.
