I am setting up a new habitat for my 2 sibling gerbils. I want it to be as natural of a habitat as their ancestors in the wild live in. Which substrate would you recommend that would be as natural as they would receive in their desert environment?
I have noticed over the last month or two, my Syrian hamster has gained a lot of weight. He went from 170g (he’s held this weight for over a year) and all of a sudden he weighed in at 242g.. then a few days later we weighed in at 255g! Since his weight gain, I have cut back on treats and he is still gaining weight. He refuses to run on his wheel. All he does is sleep, eat .. and drink water (rarely).
Hi, I was wondering how much male Syrian hamsters are supposed to weigh. I’ve noticed Almond is getting really fat and he’s already bigger than any of the other Syrian hamsters I’ve had in the past. He’s close to double the size my other adult male was already. I don’t have a gram scale currently. Is it dangerous for them to be overweight? He has a wheel and a ball.
I brought a dwarf winter white hamster in March I am thinking about adopting a less fortunate dwarf hamster but what type should I get without causing any stress to my existing hamster or should I just buy another cage?
Hi there, my 2.5 year old syrian hamster has quite flaky skin, like he has dandruff or something. Hes old, but he weighs a good 142 grams like he has done for years now, and hes active at night. Should i take him to the vet because of this? Its doesnt look too red or irritated, just dry. Thanks!
My Gerbil’s hair is falling out, shaking, won’t open her eyes, eat, or move
Hello I was just wondering if this hamster food is good for my hamster. I noticed his coat is two toned. Some of it looks silky and the other fuzzy. I don't know if it's the food or if he's growing out of his baby fur maybe? I just got him from Petco and I didn't think to ask his age.
I have a 22 year old Timneh African Grey parrot. I have used Harrison's pellets medium size in the past. It has been discontinued. My parrot won't eat the fine size and drops the large size into water. I need suggestions of what else to use.
Our hamster seems to have developed a large bald lump on his bottom. He is almost three years old. He has had a small lump next to his eye since he was about one and the vet said that there was nothing he could do about this.
I have a hamster that is over two year. and in the past few wks she slower losingmost of her hair
My otherwise healthy and fat hamster has been losing weight and I am getting worried. His poop is firm, he eats a lot and has a nice shiny fur. The only reason I can think of is that he wasn’t very active at first and now he is running in his wheel all the time and up a lot. He doesn’t drink much but he never did. How can I fatten him up. I don’t want to loose my buddy.
Is a 112 quart bin a good size for a hamster to live in?
