For the hobbyist looking for a very active, hardy and brightly colored fish, it's hard to beat Helfrichi Firefish. These reef safe fish are very skittish, and shouldn't be housed with aggressive species, or they will spend most of their time hiding. They are known to jump when startled, so be sure to house them in a covered aquarium. This small fish of 2" is full of personality and will make a great addition to smaller aquariums. Use caution if adding more than one, unless it is a very large aquarium. They will pick at algae within the aquarium, but that cannot be considered their diet. Provide them a mix of meaty foods, and they will generally will accept pelletized food after a few days. They can be territorial to other dartfish and bottom dwellers. They have a yellow head and their body is different shades of purple and white. This firefish has a vibrant pattern of yellow and purple outlining the fins.

ACCLIMATION: Avoid exposing new aquatic life to bright lights after opening the box. Turn off aquarium lights prior to floating aquatic life. Allow the sealed bag with your new fish to float in your aquarium for at least 15 minutes (but no longer than one hour) to ensure the water in the bag matches the temperature in your aquarium. A bacteria booster addition can assist with the addition of new aquatic life. Petco offers free water testing in store to determine if your water is safe for the addition of new aquatic life. DIET: A well-balanced diet consists of a variety of flakes, pellets, freeze-dried and frozen foods, depending on the species. FEEDING: Feed sparingly and no more than fish can eat in 1-2 minutes. Overfeeding can quickly foul the water, especially in smaller aquariums.
If we need to contact you for any reason about your order, shipping of your package may be affected. Once your order is placed, you will receive a confirmation email with your order summary. Orders are subject to verification of payment information by phone or email.

Hello! I'm looking to add some additional fish to my 36 gallon reef tank. So far, I have an orange firefish, 2 ocellaris clowns, a fire shrimp, a peppermint shrimp, and 4 blue legged hermit crabs. Do you have any recommendations other than damsels?

I have a freshwater fish in my aquarium that I cannot identify. It resembles a Mosquito fish but is lighter in color, thinner, swims differently, and has what appear to be sparkles on its sides. I caught it with a net in a school of mosquito fish but it is different. it was the only one in the school that looks the way it does. I found it in the shallow part of a lake in Florida. Please help me identify it.

We recently bought a Betta from a chain store pet shop. He is currently in a 10 gallon tank with a heater. He’s been eating and swimming around, acting fine. The first day we had him I noticed this bump. (Didn’t notice in the petstore but hard to see in those cups they keep them in) Here’s a side shot. Looks like one tiny fluid filled bump, size of a scale. Any ideas?
what kind of fish are these? and would they be good with a male betta
