I do NOT recommend buying this hay for your small animal. I recently just lost 2 rabbits within a span of two weeks, with 1 passing before the other, who both would've been turning 4 at the beginning of March 2026. The only thing that has changed in their diet is this Healthy Select hay.

I am writing this review to warn other small-pet owners about my experience with Healthy Select Small Animal Timothy Hay. I cared for my two companion rabbits for over three and a half years, during which their diet and environment were consistent and stable. The only change I made prior to their sudden illness and death was introducing this product into their routine. Shortly after switching to this hay, both rabbits experienced rapid health decline and unfortunately passed away. Based on the timing and absence of any other changes, I believe this product may be unsafe and potentially contaminated. While I am still seeking full clarification through proper channels, the experience has been devastating. Out of concern for other pet owners, I strongly urge Petco and the manufacturer to immediately investigate this product and remove it from shelves until its safety is confirmed. I also recommend that fellow pet owners exercise extreme caution and monitor their animals closely if using this hay. I hope this review helps prevent further heartbreak for other families and encourages appropriate action to ensure animal safety.

Our two holland lops love their hay and the Healthy select hay doesn’t disappoint. This product is perfect for them and they love to have it in their litter pan and in their feeders. Great quality, smells fresh and looks good too.

I got a bag of Healthy Selects Timothy Hay to try out on my rabbits, guinea pig and hamsters and they all loved it. The hay looks like its good quality stuff, no dust or real fine pieces in the bottom of the bag that I received. All my guys ate it and were happy with it, they also used the leftovers for bedding.

My rabbits love this Timothy hay! I love that this bag is decent size and all my rabbits can share it. I like that it helps with digestion and helps with dental health as well. The hay is high quality and worth getting. I will continue to use this for them since they enjoy it so much.
