Recent rescue mare sliced left front leg in trailer. She has been seen by the vet, muscle cut off, wound cleaned and bandaged with 5 days antibiotics. Vet recommend at time of appt. And today hosing with cold water, wonderdust, and leaving unbandaged. She will lick off the wonderdust if it's not wrapped so we have been wrapping it and rinsing past 2 weeks. Do you recommend wrapped or leave unwrapped so she can lick it off? Any idea regarding using raw honey to heal wound faster?
My dog was diagnosed with a partial ACL tear in his rear right leg. He has been prescribed meds and rest and we are keeping him as imobile as possible. Should we try and wrap his leg with any kind of flexible bandage? Or leave it be?
My dog cut his pad and it was bleeding but not a lot. I wiped it with benodine and wrapped it up with gauze.
My horse has a really bad bulb laceration. The vet stitched the wound up but the stitches ripped through when the horse put weight on the foot. It seems to be healing slowly but it is clear that it is not staying together close enough with just bandaging it.I thought about a slipper cast or maybe some cast tape around the wound to help hold it still. Would you recommend immobilizing the leg with a cast or cast wrap? If I keep it wrapped tight and clean, what are the chances of it healing?Thanku!
My 13 yr old Blue heeler started limping on her R front leg a few weeks ago. She had some swelling behind her metatarsals so I ordered a velcro wrap to give her extra support for a sprain. Although the wrap and rest has helped and the swelling is gone from that area, she is very tender with a little swelling over the medial carpal and the last couple days she has been licking at it. I still think its a sprain, but would a splint and more rest be the way to go?
I cleaned the wound& been applying veterycin wound care spray every 12hours&re-wrapping the legs in a 3m poultice pad bandage.cuts are clean & moist but severe.1 is at least 2in deep& straight across the pastern.I gave him antibiotics.he is trying to not put any weight on the worst cut leg&he is tied up in a stall to limit movement. All of his legs are swollen&he had fever bt now back2 normal day 2. He still eats&drinks. Can you give me your advice/thoughts. NO vets in my country! Thank you!!
My male 12.5 yr old goldendoodle has two none cancerous tumors on his back. We are having them removed in ten days. He's always rolling on his back and bleeds everywhere, what can I do his bandages won't stay on. Thank you
My dog hurt her leg. We saw an emergency vet..she prescribed pain medicine but that was it. No x rays or anything. Could I wrap her paw?
Our boxer, 69 lb, had ACL surgery in her right knee. That knee is doing fine today. Now her left knee is giving her a problem and she is somewhat lame. I am taking her to the vet for x-rays on Saturday, but would like to know a good wrap or brace that could help her.
My 7.5 yr old spayed female, 150lb newfoundland - king shepherd has huge (3-4 inch) warty calluses on her elbows that have started cracking & bleeding. I have bandaged the right/worse one with antiseptic and it got softer and MORE "oozy" and granular, and I think infected. There is now swelling down at her wrist. Vet tomorrow but anything you can tell me to help ....appreciated THX
Pet had skin die off, back rt foot (after severe abscess in back rt hip threatened amputate) Vet removed dead, new skin growth underneath. This left atleast 50% of exposed flesh, the other has new skin growth. Antibiocs & cleaning w/chlorhexidine 2xs a day.(metacam 1x day for 2 day.)With cleaning and limited mobility still seems impossible to keep clean, constantly finding dirt/debris, misc stuck to raw skin. Is there a safe way to cover wound while also letting it breathe for healing purposes?
Dog had an injury to back pad..vet said it was looking well after a week..is was slightly oozing last night after vet appt..hubby wrapped it a bit too tight now swollen
