My cat, who will be 20 in March, has had scabs on her heels/elbows, they were bleeding, she kept licking them. Wearing doggie socks (ends cut off) has helped , but they are healing slowly.
Our 14 yr golden has cancer on toe. Ate a lot of it. He is still happy, eating, no issues other than arthritis. The tumor"popped"(on vacation),got infected, got treated and we now maintain with a cotton sock over it after iodine soak & bootie to go outside. Should we leave bootie off when indoors? Should we change sock daily? If left inside plastic bag over sock inside boots to avoid wet, should the bag be taken off? What will increase chance that infection returns?
Hello! Jack was neutered on May 3rd and he also had a small hernia repair where his umbilical cord was. He’s wearing a cone, but is sill able to get his back feet up to scratch the hernia incision. Earlier today he tore a stitch, so back to the vet we went for a couple of staples. The vet recommended socks for his back feet, but he pulls on them and chews his feet. Any recommendations on keeping his incision safe until healed? He’s getting a mild sedative every 8-10 hours to keep him calm...
My dog cut his pad and it was bleeding but not a lot. I wiped it with benodine and wrapped it up with gauze.
My 14yo cairn terrier stepped in some borax dust (outside for ants) on Monday afternoon. I have washed thoroughly and he didnt ingest. Left paw is healed and ok. Right front paw still has a small red/raw spot and is painful for him. I have used antibacterial ointment and kept wrapped, giving 1/2 benadryl, and this weekend will use a cone. What else can i do to ease discomfort and promote healing? Thank you!!!
Pet had skin die off, back rt foot (after severe abscess in back rt hip threatened amputate) Vet removed dead, new skin growth underneath. This left atleast 50% of exposed flesh, the other has new skin growth. Antibiocs & cleaning w/chlorhexidine 2xs a day.(metacam 1x day for 2 day.)With cleaning and limited mobility still seems impossible to keep clean, constantly finding dirt/debris, misc stuck to raw skin. Is there a safe way to cover wound while also letting it breathe for healing purposes?
My dog has torn open one of his foot pads. The tear is about half an inch but there's no bleeding. He's avoiding putting pressure on it and limping slightly. Is there anything I can do at home to help the healing process?
My Chow Chow has developed really raw paw pads. Painful for her to walk on. I have no idea what it is, and the vets said nothing but gave her an antibiotic. I've put baby socks on her with ointment, but I'm not sure if I'm helping or harming the healing process because I have no idea what this is! Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! I'm desperate!
Took my dogs on a hike yesterday. The terrain wasnt the best but ive taken them on that same hike before. They came back and their paw pads were all torn up. Ive washed the pads and put antibacterial on them twice today. They can hardly walk to go out to the bathroom. im doing everything i read online but am starting to worry about them. Ive read it takes 10 days for them to heal. Is this normal for this circumstance or do i need to take them to a vet?
My dog tore his carpal pad I put Neosporin on it and rapped it up cause it was bleeding will it heal
My dog has pulled off her spay staples. She has about 2 left. Out of immediate concern I bought gauze, pads, and hydrogen peroxide to wrap her up. It’s not bleeding and she has her e collar on ( she had pulled it off before but I made sure now it shouldn’t come off) she’s now 8 days post surgery. Will me doing this help ?
Hi ! My dog tyson was playing fetch outside on the cement Monday night when we noticed blood . Further inspection and he realized he tore both carpal pads . We bandaged him up for the night after washing them and then Tuesday morning I got Neosporin . I wrapped him back up with the Neosporin for about 9 hours then before bed last night I put on dry bandages . Today I let him dry out without bandages and we did a epsom soak for 5 minutes . They seek to be healing okay , is yellow crusting normal?
