Horrible and dangerous. It breaks into splinters, which could get stuck in their throat or rip their intestines. I have a black labe, and a huge part splintered off and was very sharp. I cant believe they even sell them. I hope my dog didnt swallow any sharp peices before i saw it splinterimg.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Brought this bone today, gave it to my one year old dog, he’s a heavy chewer, took him about 15 min to completely eat the bone and leave only about 3/4 of it, I was watching him even closer for the end part of the bone because it is a smaller piece and I usually hold it for him because it is slippery, a couple seconds in I notice that the bone is very brittle and there’s pieces of sharp bone breaking off of it, It’s very scary to see and it’s only been 30 min since he ate the bone (I ended up throwing the end part away) and he has not thrown up yet but I’m scared that he might’ve swallowed some sharp bits or something. I do not recommend for a heavy chewer or any dog. He went through it very fast and it has sharp bones coming off of it.

These ribs are dangerous. I can't believe Petco even sells them. I gave them to my two pomapoos and the boy chewed on his all day until I noticed there were sharp pieces laying all over the floor. I flipped out and cleaned them all up and threw bones away. That night my Ralfie started throwing up after he ate and again the next day. Took him to the vet and they did an x-ray. There were little pieces of something in his stomach. Since he didn't have anything to eat but that rib and the meal he threw up, you can guess what it was. Had to stop feeding him for 24 hrs. and then put him on chicken and rice. He is fine now but never again will I buy these bones. If I hadn't seen them splintering up, who knows how many little sharp pieces he would have eaten. He might be a dead dog now. So if you still decide to buy these bones, at least, watch your dog while he is eating them.

How do i store the remaining bones once the pack is opened? Should the other 5 sticks be refrigerated?

  1. Hi Tpcconfident, Good day! It is recommended to store the extra rib bones at room temperature out of the sun. Never refrigerate them. The bones can be placed in a bag, but we recommend putting some pin prick holes in the bag so the bones can breathe. Thanks,

is my dog supposed eat this entire bone? He breaks off pieces and swallows them

  1. Hi CharlieP3, Please follow instructions on the package. CAUTION: this is a pet chew. Not intended for human consumption. Always supervise pet while eating to ensure pet breaks chew down into small pieces before consuming. If chew is consumed rapidly and in large chunks, there are dangers of choking or gastrointestinal blockage. If chew becomes wet, some color transfer may occur.” Thanks,

How long are these?

  1. Hi Kate RF, Length will vary as these are cut based on weight, however they should be between 8 and 10 inches. Thanks,

Are these safe to give large breed puppies?

  1. Hi John90733, Yes, specially for strong-chewers. Thanks

My dog has gnawed these so much that she is starting to grind the bone away, is this a problem?

  1. Hi ACapedKnight, It is okay if the bones will not crack and splinter. We suggest that you contact your local Petco store's specialists for further advice. Thanks,
