Parents are visiting with their dog who has anal gland problems. Glandex in food daily. Dog was stinky and scooting. Took him to my vet. Vet did anal gland expression. They recommended additional very expensive procedure under anesthesia. Basic anal gland expression helped for a few days. Now he's smelly. Do they need to do expensive flush version now? Would antibiotics or anything help for now while they're on vacation? Should I try a different vet?
I have been expressing my dogs anal glands weekly. I have noticed the her anus has turned darker, blackened and the skin around it looks tougher. She has scooter on the carpet a couple times. I am worried her anal glands have atrophied bc they aren’t expressing anything anymore. Also, her glands feel bulgier/bigger than normal. She is a 10 lbs Pomchi. Any supplements you recommend? What about those Glandex chews peanut butter flavored? Are they dangerous? Do you think she is impacted? Go to vet?
My dog got his anal glands expressed yesterday as he was scooting and licking in the air..he is still scooting but a little less than before..I'm trying hot towel against his rectum..its helping fir a while but then he just start again..
Panda had moderately full anal glands he was expressed by vet a month ago he is now scared of going to see vet because he has been expressed twice my vet suggested we trial glandex and if this does not work express him monthly or surgical removal of the glands both are invasive which will mean trauma to him he also scratches a lot when he needs doing how quickly will the glandex work and are there any other options that I can do he is on grain free kangaroo diet and has food allergies
Do veterinarians express dogs' under 15 lbs anal glands? If so, what is the fee?
Bell, 7 1/2 yr old female, anal glands fill about every 4 weeks (or oftener). Feed is Purina One Healthy Weight, with one Well & Good Multi Vitamin and one Well & Good Allergy Aid pill daily. I also feed cooked pumpkin and cooked oatmeal. Is there any other fiber or food that would help her anal glands as she scoots a lot and apparently is uncomfortable. I understand removal of the anal glands is not recommended.
My long haired cat keeps scooting her bum on our carpet and licking it constantly. It looks red too. We had her bum shaved by our vet and we wash it regularly to keep it clean. Can you suggest an OTC product or wipe I could get to relieve her itching? Thank you.
I think my dog has an anal infection. We just got her glands expressed, and she still has this horrible smell. I don’t have the money for a vet. Is there at home remedies?
i took my border terrier to my vet 1-7 her anal glands were expressed and he said they were impacted and should be fine. week later i called because she was still scooting. he prescribed EnteDerm. Now it is done and she is still scooting. What next?
My 2 year old German shepherd has been scooting, not frequently but sometimes she licks her bum which then results in the foul odor. I’ve tried to express her glands but find it hard to do, and also nothing comes out. She eats normal and is very playful. Her stool used to be soft but not anymore since I changed her food. Now I feed her Kirkland signature dog food healthy weight dog formula. Also, I have been giving her for two months Zesty paws probiotic bites. Are these symp due to impaction
My female Lab has delveloped an expressing problem. I took her to the veterinarian an she was able to get rid of the smell. I give her Glandex every morning but the smell has come back. She is a healthy 9 yr old that gets exercise any suggestions?
How much would it cost to get my dachshunds anal glands expressed?
