This is the perfect size for our 60lb dog. She eats about 3 cups per day.

Misleading weight capacity

I bought this today and a 30 pound bag of Royal Canin Puppy German Shepherd Dog food, it filled it up completely with no room to spare. The extra five pounds of space would be nice for the left over food. I also noticed I did not receive the scoop.

Bought 5 of these in July but only used one daily (cat dry food) and filled two with 5lbs flour bags and only accessed these 4-5 times Yesterday when I fed my cat I noticed the lid’s “frame” (where the lid screws into) had a visible crack and now isn’t air tight anymore. This made me check the other four and turns out two more are cracked. What a waste of money! I got a very good deal on these containers but still expected them to last longer than 4-5 months.

Good for storing food, questionable capacity

I'm not sure how they determine the capacity because this didnt fit my dogs 34lb bag of Purina pro plan small breed. There must have been at least 5lbs of the bag leftover, so I'd definitely say the capacity is more closer to 30lbs. My other dogs 17lb bag of food managed to fit but there wasn't much room left in there. It's good for its purpose but I'd say if you're hoping to store more than 30lbs of food definitely opt for the 50lb container, I'm going to have to size up.

Perfect for storing cat food

Been wanting to buy these for years, but the price was always way out of my budget. I was able to snag 3 of these for less than I would've had to pay for 1. I need this product to store my cat food. So I cannot rate it on certain factors like whether it's actually water proof, or whether dogs can chew through it. For my specific purpose it's absolutely perfect. Before this, I'd been using a 5 gallon bucket with a twist off lid. In comparison, this item holds more. This product (the large size 35lbs Gamma Vittles Outback Plus Pet Food Container,) holds a 22lb bag of Friskies dry cat food with plenty of room to spare. I also bought a 30lb bag of Friskies dry cat food and the container couldn't quite fit it all. There were probably a few cups left over that just wouldn't fit. I've no idea how they figure this item can hold 35lbs of pet food. I think they should relabel it as 25 or even 30lbs. They thoughtfully included a little sticker on the lid so you can label what's inside. I cut off a little piece of the cat food bag that has the Brand/flavor and taped it to the container for easier and faster identification. So far the lids have been incredibly easy to open and close, but they're brand new so maybe that's will change in the future, who knows. (Hopefully not.) My only regret is that I didn't buy more.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Mouth Not Wide Enough, Otherwise Good

Seems like it's well-made and definitely seals well. Unfortunately, I had to return it. I keep my dog's food stored in the bag, and the way the top is shaped doesn't allow the bag to fit inside. The mouth of the container is narrower, so the bag gets caught. I didn't want to force it in, either. Seems like it would have held the full 28 lb bag, though.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Petco: Send me Arnold Schwarzenegger to open this!

Wish I never bought this. The cover fits so poorly that they need to send me a body builder to open and close the cover. I have owned similar products in the past that were wonderful where the cover spun on easily and spun off easily. This is NOT the case. It is difficult to get the cover on and off. POORLY MADE. VERY DISSATISFIED. Never closes securely enough to keep bugs out.

No, I do not recommend this product.
