So ive tried a few different brushes for my short hair super shredder that gets hairballs... This cat never runs out of fluff. Most of his shedding is from his undercoat. I tried this, and VERY gently cause it is sharp and has blades. It did work! Atleast way better than my regular comb and slicker brush. I got 5 times the undercoat fur off than I normally do and I wasnt brushing hard at all. If my boy would just try to enjoy the brushing I would probably get even more. Try it out if you cant seem to get the undercoat with other brushes. Im happy with my purchase.

Yes, I recommend this product.

I actually have a long haired cat but bought this for my short haired bunny. He growled every time he saw it so I decided to try it on my cat. It worked out great because she gets bad mats. Just be careful not to scratch your cats skin because it’s a little sharp especially for an older cat (20 yrs old) with thinner skin. It works wonders!

Game changer

I went from being so frustrated by the amount my kitty shed, the amount of fur sticking to my hands, the tufts that would collects when I pet her, to barely thinking about it. I was previously using the Safari brush for my short haired cat and I just wasn't seeing an impact in my kitty's shedding. A friend recommended this and I love it. I brush my kitty once a week for about 10 min and I saw a reduction in shedding after about 2 weeks. She also seems to be more comfortable with this brush; she'll often lay on her side while brushing.

Yes, I recommend this product.

My cat is silky soft!

My cat loves this. He's shorthair and got brushed pretty regularly, so the Furminator didn't give us an entire extra cat's worth of fur, but it was a surprising amount. The cat's coat is shiny and omg so silky soft! I want to say "wow" every time I pet him. He seems to consider deshedding to be a bonding experience. He flops onto his side, blissed out, with pauses to rub his face on the tool or give it head bumps to let it know he loves it. Chin scritches with the tool are apparently THE BEST, but I have to be really careful since it is sharp.

Yes, I recommend this product.

No more flying fur!

I recently adopted a 3 year old cat from SPCA. Charlie didn't like other combs that I had tried. Every time I held him my lap was covered in fur. The Petco sales associate recommended this, it holds the fur till you press the button to release it, no more clumps of fur flying all over. Although I thought it was expensive, Charlie likes it, at least on his back and he is gradually getting use to on his underside, so I think it is worth it. There is a brush for short hair and one for long hair cats, as well as size for under 10.5 lbs. and one for a bigger cat, it is easy to miss this on the box label.

Yes, I recommend this product.

I see a lot of great reviews for cats. The ones I’ve seen for rabbits aren’t that good. Has anyone had a good experience with this for their rabbit?

  1. I dont have a rabbit, however a groomer recommended that I not use this on my cat, because it not only removes excess hair it also pulls on hair on his body.  This makes shedding even worse.  She recommends a mitt brush and rub in a circular motion, then remove hair with a normal pet comb or brush

Is a standard size good for a 14 pound short haired cat?

  1. While I use mine for my 15 lb cat, the one for large cats works better. I have 2 small and 1 large one. The small one is best used on kittens and my 7 lb kitty.

What are the differences between the deshedding tool for large and small cats? My kitten is about 1 year old and is 7lb, so 10lb is within his reach but not a guarantee.

  1. The only difference is the siize of the blade. The bigger furminator covers a greater surface area so may need less brush strokes to groom your cat.

Would this work well on a small, short-haired dog (chihuahua, 5 lbs.)? I can't find the right FURminator for both short hair and small dogs.

  1. I think it would work just fine on a Chihuahua. The only thing I'd be cautious about is the metal teeth. You need to use it gently, especially on a little tyke like that one. I used mine on my cats and they hated it.

what is the difference between the short and long haired furminator?

  1. Thanks for asking! The short hair tool works best for coats shorter than two inches. The long hair tool works best for coats two inches in length or longer. For more help contact FURminator at PHGreviews@spectrumbrands.com or call 1-800-645-5154.

Is this the renewaled model which has the edge guard on it?

  1. Hi EUNMI, Yes. This is the new version.
