[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Be heard good things about the brand. Loved the ingredients and freshness from it being in the fridge. But my dog who’s never been picky hated it. She kept removing it from her bowl and eating the rest of her food and leaving that behind. After I saw this I topped it with a few treats and only ate the treats and only the parts that didn’t have the food residue on them. I was so shocked because she’s never been picky.

They loved it

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My dogs are some savages. They wasted absolutely no time devouring this food. Especially my boy dog. I had to ask him if he even tasted it because it was gone in 3 seconds. I put it in their trays but they took it out and ate it off the floor. My granddaughter was holding the boy dog and she grabbed the roll and he tried to eat it through the plastic. So it’s safe to say they loved this. It didn’t irritate their stomachs or make them sick. They used the bathroom as normal. I keep it on a container in my fridge.

Food is enjoyed by the pup

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I use this food as a supplement to my pups diet. Sometimes my dog is picky and will not eat, but once I put this wet food in his bowl, he will scarf it down. So far I haven't noticed any difference in his coat. My dog seems to enjoy the texture of the food. It is a little tough to break apart with a spoon but I know my dog is not complaining. Food appears to be easily digested as he does but have any issues with his bowel movements.

Wholesome Nutrition in a Convenient Roll

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve been feeding my puppy the Freshpet Vital Grain Free Chicken, Beef & Salmon Puppy Recipe Roll, and it has quickly become a staple in our home. What sets this food apart right away is how fresh and wholesome it looks the moment you slice into it. The roll format makes the ingredients easy to see—actual pieces of meat and vegetables instead of the overly processed texture common in many dog foods. My puppy absolutely loves the taste and cleans his bowl every single time, which says a lot for such a young, often picky eater. The packaging is both straightforward and functional. The roll comes sealed securely in a durable plastic casing that keeps the food fresh until opened. Once you cut into it, it’s easy to portion out the exact amount you need. I appreciate that the packaging clearly lists feeding guidelines, making it simple to gauge how much to serve as my puppy grows. The size of the product—2 lbs—strikes a great balance between convenience and freshness. It’s large enough to last for several meals but small enough that it doesn’t sit in the fridge for too long. This matters because the food is fresh and doesn’t contain artificial preservatives, so it feels good knowing I’m feeding something real and gently prepared. In terms of shelf life, the roll stays stable unopened in the fridge for a reasonable amount of time, and once opened, it keeps well for several days as long as it’s properly sealed or placed in an airtight container. I’ve noticed it maintains its moisture and texture throughout that period without drying out or becoming crumbly, which makes serving it consistently easy. Preparation and consumption are wonderfully simple. You just slice off the portion you need, peel away the casing, and serve. The texture is soft enough to mix with kibble if desired, yet firm enough to hold its shape when served alone. My puppy eats it enthusiastically and seems more satisfied after meals compared to dry food alone. His digestion has been smooth, his coat is shiny, and his energy is exactly where a growing puppy’s should be. Overall, this Freshpet Vital puppy roll delivers on freshness, nutrition, convenience, and taste. It feels thoughtfully crafted, and I can genuinely see the positive difference it’s made for my pup. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a clean, balanced, and easy-to-serve fresh food option.

Fresh food that reads FOR ANY AGE can be given to puppies? How long is fresh pet food good for if frozen? And how much should I feed my 9!week old Yorkie under  2 lbs.  Thank you

  1. Hi, our Vital Grain Free Chicken Beef & Salmon Meals are appropriate for all life stages including puppies. While our rolls are made to be served fresh from the fridge, you can feel free to freeze any unused portions upon opening. For any unopened rolls, it is best to keep it in the refrigerator until the sell by date stamped on the package. A puppy of about 2 lbs. will require approximately ¼ lb. (4 oz.) daily as a base diet. Feed daily recommendation in 3 to 4 servings per day depending on the age of your puppy. If you have any other questions about our food, please give us a call at 1.866.789.3737, Mon-Fri 8am-9pm ET and Sat & Sun 9am-1pm ET. Kindly reference case number 424215. Thank you. - Jillian

9 week chihuahua - she weighs 1.5lbs How much do I feed her?

  1. Hello! Our feeding guidelines start at 5 lbs. A 2- 3 lb dog’s food requirement is approximately ¼ lb (4 oz.) daily as a base diet. Feed daily recommendation in two servings. The food quantity can be increased or decreased depending on the dog’s condition, age and activity level. If your pet requires more food increase daily food by ½ -1 ounce. As always, Freshpet recommends to work with your veterinarian for more specific needs.

My shitzu is 4 months, he's weight 6 pounds, i need to know how much should i feed him.

  1. I would check with your Vet really but as a puppy tjey need more calories and frequency so perhaps a half cup (1/2) 4 times a day and more as they grow. But really best to ask a Vet or some foods tell you on tjeir lanels -since each food is different. Enjoy your baby!

I have an 8 lb., 4 month old puppy. According to the package serving chart, he should get 1-1 3/4 lbs. per day. This seems like a lot for a dog as small as he is. Other foods don't recommend near this much. Please advise me on how much I should feed him.

  1. My dog is 13 pounds and I’m supposed to give him a quarter cup in the morning and a quarter cup in the afternoon. A cheetah little on that, but nowhere near what you are considering. If you don’t have a vet to call and ask, call any vets office to see if someone will give you some information to confirm what I’m saying.

Is grain=free dogfood really ok? Is it cancer causing like I heard someone mention?

What is the refrigerated shelf life unopened? Don't want to run to the store every week, would like to stock up for a month.

    1. If it’s unopened and you keep it in the fridge it’ll be fine until it’s expiration date which is written on the package. Once opened it’s good for a week but you can make it last longer by freezing it.
