[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Unpack-aging the food it smelled fresh and it cut easy. Put it in the plate for our doggo and she dint want any parts of it. I wish she liked it it had a good texture. I put it in a ziploc bag for her next feeding and I put it with her regular food and she ate around it.

We offer a variety of recipes featuring different proteins, veggies and textures that may be a better fit for her. Please visit https://www.freshpet.com/products to explore our other recipe options. When making a change in diet, we suggest a slow transition over 7–10 days to help avoid food refusals and digestive upsets. Hope this helps!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Freshpet Grain-Free Beef & Bison Vital Dog Food (2 lb Roll) has been a great option for pet owners looking to feed their dogs a fresher, more natural diet. Made with real beef and bison as the primary ingredients, this recipe delivers high-quality protein that supports strong muscles and sustained energy. The grain-free formula is ideal for dogs with grain sensitivities or picky stomachs, and it avoids artificial preservatives, colors, or fillers, which adds peace of mind when choosing a daily food. The refrigerated roll format helps maintain freshness and makes portioning simple, just slice what you need and store the rest. Many dogs are immediately drawn to the aroma and soft texture, making it especially appealing for picky eaters or older dogs with dental issues. Overall, Freshpet Grain-Free Beef & Bison Vital Dog Food offers a wholesome, protein-rich meal that feels closer to homemade food while still being convenient, nutritious, and easy to serve.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My dogs really enjoyed the FreshPet Vital beef and bison roll mixed with their food. It's easy to slice up, and doesn't smell too bad. I do wish it was easier to open and store, and that it was less expensive, but overall my dogs loved it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My dog usually doesn’t like vegetables or fruit. If it’s mixed he would spit it out but he ate this up with the spinach and fruit in it. We mix his wet food with kibble so this was a good value for how many days it would last us. The food looked fresh still out of the bag and was very easy to transfer and mix with kibble. My dog licked up every last bite and looked to us for more so safe to say he enjoyed it

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Precious is pretty picky, so I’m always cautious when trying new food, but Freshpet Vital Grain Free Beef & Bison was a hit right away. I really like that it’s made with simple ingredients and no artificial preservatives, colors, or fillers. The texture is easy to portion and mix, and my dog was clearly excited at mealtime. I also appreciate that it’s kept refrigerated, which makes it feel fresher than traditional dry food. Overall, this is a great option if you’re looking to upgrade your dog’s food with cleaner ingredients.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As soon as our corgi Pippin hears the fridge door open every evening, he runs to the kitchen. He knows he's about to get the freshest and tastiest meal. Freshpet Vital is his new favorite dog food. He prefers the Bison and Beef mix, but will eat any of the various options that are available. Pippin loves this stuff and doesn't seem to have stomach issues like he did on his regular kibble. The food stays fresh for a while after opening and has never spoiled before we have finished the 2lb roll. You can't beat the quality of this food and the price is reasonable considering what you're providing your dog. Definitely try this if you havent already!

Questions

1 - 9 of 9 Questions

Why isn't PetCo offering the 2 lb. Freshpet Vital Beef & Bison on line anymore? That is the size I need for my ShihTzu. The 5 lb is too large, would go bad before I could use it all, and the 1 lb. is too expensive. The 2 lb. size is in my local store.

  1. Hi there, we're sorry to hear that you're having a hard time finding our 2 lb Vital Beef and Bison Roll online through Petco. We do suggest reaching out to your store manager and requesting that they order your preferred recipe. In the meantime, feel free to use our store locator at https://freshpet.com/where-to-buy to find additional retailers that sell and deliver our recipes near you. Simply select the recipe you're interested in and enter your zip code. Click on "Buy Online" to explore your online purchase options. We hope this helps! -Abbie

Does this product get delivered in a timely manner (before spoiling) if you choose same day delivery?

  1. It was delivered the same day I ordered it.

How many calories are in Fresh Pet Select, Beef and Bison? I cannot find this information on the package or my search. Thank you!

  1. Stay away from Fresh Pet Select. It's made in China. They had many recalls for the Select. Get Fresh Pet Vital. I don't have the roll in front of me because I don't buy this anymore but the Vital calories are on the package that reads kilo/cal. You can always call the company. I am now using Katherine Heigl Superfood that you buy on line. You should go on line and read about her Superfood for dogs. My dog loves it.

Why can't you freeze Fresh Pet Grain Free Beef and Bison rolls? PetCo in my town only has one size. We have 3 dogs. The big roll was fine & could be eaten in a week, but our foster has gone to his forever home & our other 2 dogs can't eat a whole roll in

  1. You can, I have no issues freezing it.  I feed this as topper with kibble so no way can use it all in 7 days as they say.  I think they say don’t freeze just to make you purchase more, we can freeze our food why not dog food?

what is portion size for 85 pound dog

  1. 1 1/4 to 1 2/3 lbs per day, so one 5 lb log of food will last about 4 days if only feeding this.

Does anyone find this Vital Beef and Bison recipe drier, more crumbly than the Fresh Pet Select? I just want to know if this is normal for the product. Thanks.

  1. Yes but suppose to be like that, different ingredients, my dog likes much more.  Can’t use the other beef one they have because has chicken which my girl is allergic to.  This one so much better and dog loves!

Why is it impossible to find Fresh Pet Grain Free Beef and Bison rolls

  1. I have found at pet stores including Petsmart and Pet o with no issues

Is this dog food approved for large breed puppies?

How long is unopened Vital good for in the fridge?

    1. Others answered after opening which wasn’t your question, there is expiration date for unopened packages.  I freeze and no issues whatsoever to last a week longer.  Not recommend because they want you to buy more!
