FreshPet Beef, bison

My dog is allergic to chickrn and took a chance on this. It is a pate that is marked and i use it as a topper. My picky dog actually likes it. I crumble some of the meat with her kibble & cut the remaining into chunks. The roll lasts me 7 days and my dog has not turned her nose up at it so far.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Made our dog very ill

Pupmom

Updated: After opening a role of beef & bison and giving our pup a slice (which he’s been eating for like 5 years), he began vomiting. a week later he is finally out of the woods from vomiting, lots of bloody stools and all of the other awful symptoms you can think of (plus a massive vet bill.) Contacted freshpet and have not heard back, and they of course say there’s no way it’s his food. This is the 3rd time this has happened with the food… we thought the other times were a coincidence but it seems to be confirmed now :( Did a quick search after contacting freshpet and it seems like there have been MANY dogs getting sick from their product. As soon as we mentioned we wanted our vet bill taken care of, they have tried washing their hands clean of this. We thought our dog was going to die. Our vet has him on a bland diet and we are going to try purina pro plan :/

No, I do not recommend this product.

I've been giving this to my dogs for years and the packages a wet and mushy it literally falls apart. I thought they changed the formula so I gave it to them they had a sick stomach so I opened another one and it was the same broken and mushy. I had to throw them out.

Not sure about quality anymore

In the past few months the quality of this food has declined and it has gotten my dog ill. I used to feel comfortable feeding this to my dog. Now the rolls are coming in soft, and wrinkled looking from the stores. As you cut in you get a very high odor from the rolls. It's very disappointing to have to start over with looking for a food for a picky dog with food allergies.

My 14-year-old yorkie poo has been the pickiest eater ever. I have tried so many different things. We tried raw food we did Farmer's dog we for years have cooked chicken breast cut it up and served it to her that way plus ground beef pork loin. Anything to get her to eat she would eat these things very infrequently would she eat dry kibble. In the last few years she's seems to have allergy issues primarily with chewing and licking her paws. I went to a new vet to see if there was anything we could do, and for the first time ever someone told me that Ziva could be in fact most likely is, allergic to chicken, of all things. That really limited the diet. I found this Vital Beef and Bison recipe online. It's specifically states that there is no chicken the food. I've never seen Ziva take to a dog food like this. She absolutely loves it. She is picky so I will come back and offer a update in a few months but for the first week she has been incredibly happy with the food. It's too early to tell if this will also clear up the allergies but in the meantime she's eating! No

Freshpet Vital Nutrition Beef & Bison

I actually saw our dog do a double take as he walked by his bowl, he had a "chew tooth brush" In his mouth as he caught a sniff of the Beef/Bison in his bowl. He dropped the tooth brush and went immediately to further investigate the delicious odor ! He ate everything in the bowl, licked the bowl clean, said thank you and went back to get his "chew tooth brush". Very happy dog..

Yes, I recommend this product.

Questions

Sort by: Newest Answers

Does this product get delivered in a timely manner (before spoiling) if you choose same day delivery?

  1. It was delivered the same day I ordered it.

How many calories are in Fresh Pet Select, Beef and Bison? I cannot find this information on the package or my search. Thank you!

  1. Stay away from Fresh Pet Select. It's made in China. They had many recalls for the Select. Get Fresh Pet Vital. I don't have the roll in front of me because I don't buy this anymore but the Vital calories are on the package that reads kilo/cal. You can always call the company. I am now using Katherine Heigl Superfood that you buy on line. You should go on line and read about her Superfood for dogs. My dog loves it.

Why can't you freeze Fresh Pet Grain Free Beef and Bison rolls? PetCo in my town only has one size. We have 3 dogs. The big roll was fine & could be eaten in a week, but our foster has gone to his forever home & our other 2 dogs can't eat a whole roll in

  1. You can, I have no issues freezing it.  I feed this as topper with kibble so no way can use it all in 7 days as they say.  I think they say don’t freeze just to make you purchase more, we can freeze our food why not dog food?

what is portion size for 85 pound dog

  1. 1 1/4 to 1 2/3 lbs per day, so one 5 lb log of food will last about 4 days if only feeding this.

Does anyone find this Vital Beef and Bison recipe drier, more crumbly than the Fresh Pet Select? I just want to know if this is normal for the product. Thanks.

  1. Yes but suppose to be like that, different ingredients, my dog likes much more.  Can’t use the other beef one they have because has chicken which my girl is allergic to.  This one so much better and dog loves!

Why is it impossible to find Fresh Pet Grain Free Beef and Bison rolls

  1. I have found at pet stores including Petsmart and Pet o with no issues

Is this dog food approved for large breed puppies?

How long is unopened Vital good for in the fridge?

    1. Others answered after opening which wasn’t your question, there is expiration date for unopened packages.  I freeze and no issues whatsoever to last a week longer.  Not recommend because they want you to buy more!
