[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My dog loves this food so much more than the standard dry dog food. The packaging is great and stores easily. I would recommend trying out this food.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I typically feed my pets dry food because I don't like wet poop. So I wanted to see how they would respond to wet food after never having it before in life. I used the Vital dog food as a topper to ensure they got their regular food and did not get sick. They really enjoyed it. My only concern was that because they are used to grazing during the day with their dry food they didn't eat all the food immediately and I had to keep throwing out their food because it was wet and sticky after time.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was looking to give my dogs something fresher and less processed than regular dog food, and came across Freshpet Vital. It’s been a great switch. The roll is really convenient. I just slice what I need and keep the rest in the fridge. All three of my dogs love it, which never happens with picky senior dogs. My dogs adjusted well to it, no stomach issues. Overall, it’s a fresh, high-quality option if you are looking for a healthy option.

She really likes the food however you have to eat the whole bag within a certain amount of time and she doesn't get through it so I have to throw half a bag away They need to make smaller bags

Hi Renee, thank you for sharing your feedback. We offer a variety of recipes available in various sizes, ranging from 1 lb. to 6 lb., depending on the recipe. You can safely store our recipes in your refrigerator unopened until the sell-by date stamped on the package. Once opened, it should be used within 7 days, as our foods are fresh and contain fresh meat without preservatives. Since the recipe is a bit too much for your dog to finish, feel free to freeze it in pre-portioned daily servings upon opening. When you're ready to use it, just thaw a portion overnight in the fridge for the next day's feeding. Keep in mind that the texture and moisture may change slightly after freezing, but the nutritional value stays the same. We hope this helps!

Questions

1 - 10 of 14 Questions

This product help to soften my dog's kibbles? Can I use this as a kibble topper?

  1. Yes, but you will need to slice it and maybe crumble it up because it comes in a firm roll.

Can this be frozen?

  1. Yes. This can be frozen. I slice mine into small wedges and leave in small baggies in the freezer. I give medicine (smashed pill form) with them and my dog loves it.

Yes, I have the bag fresh pet bottles fresh cut chicken recipe. Does it have to be refrigerated before it’s opened

  1. Yes.....always!

In the Torrington,CT Petco, Why are they charging $30.29 for a 6lb loaf of FreshPet Vital Chicken/ Brown Rice and Carrots when online it  says $18.49 for a 6lb loaf of the same and available in the Torrington Petco?

  1. I do not live in CT, but I would guess that the local store has probably higher overhead, and those are then passed on to the customer. I apologize if my answer is not too much help.

Someone else has asked this question, but there is no reply.  WHAT IS THE SODIUM CONTENT OF FRESH PET VITAL... CHICKEN, TURKEY, AND SALMON RECIPES?

How long can it be refrigerated if it stays unopened?

    1. It has an expiration date on each roll.  The ones that I have don’t expire until 11/03/2021.

    Can puppies eat this?

Can the Vital dog food be frozen ?

      1. Yes. I buy the large size for my small dogs because it costs about half as much per pound.  I cut it into pieces that will each last 4-5 days, then use my Foodsaver to vacuum seal them.  I don't let it go all the way with the vacuum because it pulls too much moisture out, just until the air is gone, then I hit the seal button.

Can you microwave it to warm it up

      1. I do...10-15 seconds
