[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My dog absolutely loves this food! It’s super fresh, looks and smells like real ingredients, and has been really easy on his stomach. His coat looks shinier and he has more energy since switching. It has a good shelf life as well. We usually mix it half and half with dry dog food morning and night due to cost. If we had the money we would fully switch over! Definitely recommend Vitalife fresh dog food!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My pup loved this food! It’s very fresh and you can actually see the peas and carrot pieces in it! It smelled like human grade food. There are measurements on the package and recommended portion sizes. Just slice the portion and wrap the open end in plastic wrap and store it in the fridge. I did have to cut it up a bit out of the package because it is all packed together. My dog usually doesn’t eat very fast and very gradually eats his dry food throughout the day, but this was gone within 2 minutes of putting it down!

We switched to Fresh Pet after I read the ingredients of his other brand more closely. Yuck! He has better bowel movements now, more solid. He doesn't have the stinky gas he used to get and its all fresh ingredients make us both very happy. His coat seems shinier and he has more energy. I won't switch back! Its affordable and easy to serve. I found out it can be frozen and thawed as you need it too. This is great as it would often spoil before the roll was finished and I'd throw a quarter of it out. He won't even consider any other brand now! No fillers or by products you can tell by the smell! It smells good enough to eat myself! Very pleased and so is Jaxson.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Gently cooked and ready to serve. Complete and balanced dog food for all ages. My girl approved ✔️ I know she enjoyed the chicken recipe with peas, carrots and brown rice because she finished her food to the very last bite. She will usually take a few bites throughout the day of her regular food but will never finish her bowl all at once. Well this was the exception. This food smells really good and healthy. It is easy to serve and the packaging reflects serving portions. Will buy for her!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Consistent veggies throughout the food, smells like spam. My dog devoured it and really enjoyed it. Most of the 2 lb size was for one portion for my large male golden retriever weighing at 72 lbs. The ingredients list looks great.

Questions

1 - 10 of 13 Questions
Sort by: Newest Answers

Can this be frozen?

  1. Yes. This can be frozen. I slice mine into small wedges and leave in small baggies in the freezer. I give medicine (smashed pill form) with them and my dog loves it.

Yes, I have the bag fresh pet bottles fresh cut chicken recipe. Does it have to be refrigerated before it’s opened

  1. Yes.....always!

In the Torrington,CT Petco, Why are they charging $30.29 for a 6lb loaf of FreshPet Vital Chicken/ Brown Rice and Carrots when online it  says $18.49 for a 6lb loaf of the same and available in the Torrington Petco?

  1. I do not live in CT, but I would guess that the local store has probably higher overhead, and those are then passed on to the customer. I apologize if my answer is not too much help.

Someone else has asked this question, but there is no reply.  WHAT IS THE SODIUM CONTENT OF FRESH PET VITAL... CHICKEN, TURKEY, AND SALMON RECIPES?

How long can it be refrigerated if it stays unopened?

    1. It has an expiration date on each roll.  The ones that I have don’t expire until 11/03/2021.

    Can puppies eat this?

Can the Vital dog food be frozen ?

      1. Yes. I buy the large size for my small dogs because it costs about half as much per pound.  I cut it into pieces that will each last 4-5 days, then use my Foodsaver to vacuum seal them.  I don't let it go all the way with the vacuum because it pulls too much moisture out, just until the air is gone, then I hit the seal button.

Can you microwave it to warm it up

      1. I do...10-15 seconds

what is a french bulldog average size meal? Portion per roll?

My dos loves this product but he is only 15 lbs therefore the meat loses its quality and he won't eat it. Can I freeze half the roll when I purchase to keep its freshness? We keep it in the roll and then a plastic bag, air tight.

        1. Yes. My dog is 13 lbs and eats 1/2 pound a day broken out over 2 meals (he's thin so can handle a little more quantity). I buy the 6 lb roll and cut it into half pound slices. I then wrap it in plastic wrap and aluminum foil, put it in a ziploc freezer bag, put it in the freezer and take it out when needed. The texture changes slightly after it has been thawed but it did not make a difference at all to my dog; he ate it just the same.
