HELPFUL HINTS - Water: Provide a constant source of water near your feeding area and the birds will flock to it. Year-Round Food: Birds are attracted by a reliable source of food, so keep your feeders full and they'll return faithfully. Shelter: Place feeders near trees and shrubs because they provide a safe haven. A sunny, windless, southeastern exposure is the preferred feeding location. Variety of Feeders: The style of feeder will affect which types of birds are attracted to it. Cardinals prefer platform feeders, finches prefer tube feeders. Food Makes the Difference: Each bird species has its food preference, so providing it will attract them. Keep It Clean: Regular cleaning of your feeders and watering areas will benefit the long-term health of the birds.

Allergern Information: Manufactured in a facility that processes shrimp, peanuts and other tree nuts.

Mealworms!

I usually buy mealworms in the spring to set out in little dishes and mix into my bird seed. I'm a big believer in year around feeding because even in the warmer months they are expending great amounts of energy for nest building, raising the nestling then teaching the adolescents. If you've ever watched a bird's nest for any length of time you see how hard they work and how frequently they must come and go, sometimes 10 times in less than 10 minutes, to feed their young. And some species brood twice! Mom or Mom and Dad will then teach their young about the feeders and that's always fun to watch. Then at the end of the summer they molt and have to regrow all those feathers for the winter months. Giving mealworms is proven to increase brood mortality and especially reduces nest mites which can kill little ones, especially with blue birds. I love that this product has a great proportion of mealworms that give my birds a boost without breaking the bank as much as other brands. There are lots of other goodies too, no dust, no sticks or weird debris either. I'm using this in the winter with suet and it's proven very popular emptying my feeders faster than usual! Great product, highly reccomend.

Is this meal safe to feed cockatiels as well? I like to feed my cockatiel a variety of meals that's safe for them.

It this a waste free product? Also, is the white proso millet hulled?

    1. I don't know the answers to your questions. I fill my feeders with black oil sunflower seeds and for each scoopful of black oil seed, I add a thin layer of Brown's nuts, berries, bugs. There is no waste at all. The squirrels, birds and chipmunks all love it.
