Very nice

Purchased was a display model from local pet shop. Was established included resident Koi Betta. I add live plants and a 7.5 watt heater put right in with pump space, fit perfectly totally out of view. Air pump and air stone coming tomorrow. Betta is thriving with 2 Nerite snails who do the housekeeping.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Good starter kit like the set up of it. Filter is little excessive and low setting is still a lot for a betta

Yes, I recommend this product.

I got this little one for a shrimp tank. It's been two weeks now and I'm liking it. The overflow is strong, but I like it.

It’s like I’m breeding algae

This needs to be cleaned so often. I’ve had bettas before and heck, plenty of other tracks and this is by far the worst. It looks beautiful when newly cleaned but idk if the filter isn’t working or what, but it grows algae at record speed. I called my nearest aquarium store as I get all my lizard stuff there and they insist that it must have too much light. I turned off the light and still it grows at a clip! I now wish I could return or exchange it. Looks like While I’m not alone in this with the algae overgrowth, not everyone experiences this so it’s possible this is a one-off. Good luck

No, I do not recommend this product.

This one doesn't come with a heater like the betta version does. What aftermarket heater can I buy for this size?

  1. There is room for a heater in the sump section where the pump is. Fluval makes a small heater but it's fixed temperature. I recommend finding a small heater with adjustable temperature and a good thermometer for your tank so that you know the actual temperature of your water and you don't cook your friends! Also if you find the flow is too great from the pump you can bore a few holes in the the tube on the outtake of the pump, it will slow the flow and also allow the heated water to circulate to the outflow. There are many mods you can do with this tank:) have fun!

i know nothing about filters or water warmers; would you be able to suggest me any and all info on what i need or how it works, the brands i should be getting with this specific type of aquarium, i've never had one. my betta's we're always in glass bowls.

  1. I have two Fluvals, 5 & 3 gal. I have a beta in the small one and I do not have a heater and never have and I’ve had that fish for a long time. I think the light at top keeps the water because when I touch it it’s not cold and I’ve never had a heater in there. The aquarium is easy to take care of and they look beautiful enjoy

i have 3 cats but really miss having my betta's .. does this tank have a lid to it? and how sturdy would it be against my cats? was thinking of a closed glass case but still wanted to know about the lid.

How can I best heat this tank consistently? The heater I have is keeping the temperature all over the place. This may be because I have had the light on at erratic times - so also, what is recommended for length of time for using the light?

Does the light fixture help plants grow or is it just a basic tank light?

      1. This light is amazing for plants - brings out full color.

Can I leave the LED light on 24 hours a day, or is there a maximum amount of hours it should stay on?

      1. NEVER! The light may and will resist with no issues as it's incredibly well designed and made, like all Fluval tanks. HOWEVER, you need to have the day-night cycles otherwise your fish will have a miserable like almost like that brainwash scene on "Clockwork Orange". If you care about your fish don't leave the lights on 24/7,

How many gallons is this tank?

      1. 2.6 Gallons

Can I put Guppies in there

      1. Hi Andymtz223, Yes! this tank is ideal for small fishes like betta's and guppies. Thanks

Can this tank be used for saltwater? Is there a saltwater option like this? I know someone who has a tank this size that looks exactly the same but has saltwater in it... I need one like this for salt

      1. Hi Deztane, This is designed for small water fishes liked bettas and guppies. Thanks,

How often does the filter and biomax need to be changed?

      1. We recommend the following maintenance schedule for the filter media: Foam block: Rinse every 6-8 weeks, replace every 12 months Carbon insert: Replace every 2-4 weeks Biomax insert: Rinse every 6-8 weeks, replace every 6-8 months
