I really like that this Fluval moss ball ornament absorbs nitrates and phosphates, thereby deterring the growth of organic matter, all while looking great in my betta’s tank!

Initially... disappointment over the fake look, but I've read about how much shrimp love these and threw it in. Don't notice results in my water tests as to improved alkanity, nitrates or nitrites. I've notice it collect uneaten food flakes so my shrimp love having a "fuzzy food ball" to feed on.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Unlike real moss balls which help maintain cleanliness and pH levels, these do nothing but shed and dirty the water. I assume these are the same as the ones Petco sells in a beta cup container near the fish. The balls are made of a hard cardboard like material with sewn on greenery to look pretty and deceiving. I have to keep grabbing my net and scooping up the shedding from these balls anytime I add water or move my tank. See for yourself!

No, I do not recommend this product.

Is the fluval moss ball alive? Is it a living thing?

  1. No. It's synthetic.

Can I put this in my golfish tank? Of is the fabric harmful is ingested by goldfish?

  1. No, gold fishes require a lot more space if it is only one maybe a 5 gallon, this is barely Enough for a small betta fish

Will this be good to put in with my axolotl?

Can I break this up and put it on my aquarium rocks for decoration?

    1. This product has an artificial moss-like covering, similar to a green fake fur which covers a chemical-absorbing core; it is not real live algae/plant "moss" that could be broken apart to transplant. I suppose you could cut it up and glue it on, but it will look fake and not grow.

Is it safe for turtles? My guy likes to bite at things so I want to make sure he won’t get Sick if he does

    1. I always had them in with my turtles and it didn’t hurt. If you think about turtles natural habitat, moss is all part of it. Hope that helped.

    is this moss ball real

    1. Nope

is it safe in my 1g betta tank?

    1. Yes, it’s great for my Berta who lives ina 5 gallon tank
