Is activated carbon good to use in an aquarium with surgeon fish?
I just purchased Imagitarium Ammonia-Reducing filter media cubes from Petco and there are no instructions for how to use. I have a 5 gallon tank with a submerged Built-in filtration system how many cubes do I use and how do I put them in my filter? Please provide the instructions thank you for your time.
I have recently used medication in my 50 gal freshwater fish tank with one 22 year old comet goldfish in it . the meds cured my fish but must have killed my beneficial Bacteria as now my established tank has been going through another nitrogen cycle. It's been four weeks now the ammonia us back to zero so is nitrite zero BUT my nitrates are now spiked about 80 and the water is cloudy. Did 2 partial water changes over the last 8 days. Will a UV sterilizer help ?? Please advise. Thanks Lina
When I change the water in my fish tank, after I add the appropriate amount of conditioner, a white fuzz seems to appear on all the objects in my tank, aside from the fish. Iโve had the tank for over a year now and it happens on all the water changes. My fish seem to be unaffected (I have 4). What could potentially be happening?
I have a problem with parrot fish tank , when after water change I used 1000mg erythromycin for prevention to fungus and bacterial infection for parrot fish , so i today mistakenly not running filter and heater ,after that I seeing that in a large quantities white micro parasitic or bacteria type in tank in a free swimming stage swim all over tank though what I do that in this condition please help me ?
I have a pond in with my water dragon with a activated carbon filter. Is it safe for him to drink? I also used a water conditioner from petco. He is very lethargic and not eating.
Trying to treat betta for Popeye otherwise healthy happy and active. Moved from five to three gallon filtered heated tanks. Feed freeze dried blood worms, daphnia and bug bites by fluval. Also am changing some if not all water every few days. Treated with kanaplex several doses no real improvement. Switzed to metroplex in water treatment as I don't know how food treatment works or how to dose started four doses two days apart and there is some improvement to the eyes. Med is miconidazole.
Hi I'm looking to buy a male Betta in the next couple weeks and keep him in a 5 gallon tank by himself. I had a Betta several years ago and remember the hassle of changing the water, so this time around I was looking to buy a filter. What would be a good filter for my situation and how would I set it up? After installing a filter, what would the upkeep of the tank look like? Will I ever need to change the water or use purifying agents?
My new fish tank is being occupied by some white cotton web like thing at the bottom.. the are found on the natural plants and food remainings in the tank.. please help .. how to get rid of it? I tried changing the water 3 times..
My goldfish's fins are turning black. I changed the whole water 2 days back. I put medicine after every water change. Still it's increasing. What should I do? And how often should I change the water and amount of water I should change? Can we substitute aquarium salt with any other things.
I recently got my goldfish (very small) and I put him in a 5 gallon tank (new tank with conditioned water and filter). He swims around very fast and up and down the tank walls. When I feed him flakes, he chews really quickly and then spits it out. I canโt tell if he actually eats anything. The ammonia levels are a little high (3.0) so I put in some ammonia fixer. All the other tests seem normal. Is there anything else I can do?
Rust colored algae in both of my 10 gallon tanks after switching from gravel to sand substrate. What can I do?
