SO CLEAR

Touchoftism

This month marks 2 years since I bought this tank. It is by far best tank I’ve ever had. The filter system keeps my tank so clean. I always get compliments and people ask how I keep the water SO CLEAR. Honestly between the black back ground, clear glass, and filter I don’t have ANYTHING I have to do. It just stays looking wonderful! I keep 2 snails with the fish to help with algae and that’s it. No issues. 10/10 probably about to get another. If you’re looking for the aesthetic and quiet, this is for you.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Fish can jump into the back compartment

Fish

I bought this tank for my daughter and in less than a week, two fish have jumped out of the tank and into the back pump/filter area. The beta fish jumped into the middle where the filter is and barley survived since the water is only 1/2 inch deep on the top. They need to redesign the lid on the inside to prevent this from happening. I would not buy this again.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Love Flex Tanks

Ivory Moon

I have 3 of these tanks. One 9 and two 15 gallon. I am surprised to see the negative reviews. I find them to be very quiet. The only thing I hear is my whisper air pump. My plants grow like crazy with the lights and Excel liquid CO2 additive, along with weekly fertilizer. I have to trim the jungle every couple of weeks. My favorite thing is with the flex glass there appear to be more fish when viewing at certain angles and I love that all the mechanics are hidden. The tanks a great addition to any room. Originally I had two 20 gallon tanks that I retired because I wanted a closed system with a snug lid and not all the constant visible white crud around the rim. The flex has the shaded area around the top edge to hide any grime until you have time to brush it clean. I’m online now to purchase another one while on sale and thought I would comment. Hope this helps.

Hospital tank

I got this tank to be a hospital tank for fish who are sick or stressed and to be a refuge for them. This is a much better place than the main tank.

Great tank. We have 3 of them.

We are big fans of this tank. We used to have a 180g reef tank and got out of the hobby. We have bought 3 of these tanks (2- 9 gallons and 1- 15 gallon). These tanks are not loud if you keep the water level up as high as it should be. The pumps on all 3 of my tanks have been fine. Only con is we wish they came with heaters. Especially since they you can't always find the small fluval heaters locally. They are fully capable of growing live plants and of course will will grow algae in abundance if you leave the lights on high levels for long hours so research how long you should light your tank and add an air stone for oxygen and flow.

Yes, I recommend this product.

I set my tank up 2 months ago and the water would not clear. Used chemicals but still not clear. Algae would not go away. Filter stopped working. Unacceptable on a new tank! Threw that money down the drain.

No, I do not recommend this product.

3-month-old tank leaked 9 all over my kitchen

MikeinFL

The tank just leaked 9 gallons of water all over my kitchen. It is 3 months old, purchased from Petco. They only stand behind it for 30 days. Really disappointing.

Questions

1 - 8 of 8 Questions

Does the 9 gallon cone with a heater?

  1. No it did not

Does this tank tend to have a problem with leaking, and is it hard to clean out the filter compartment?

  1. It is not difficult to clean and I see no signs of a leak. I have a 200 gallon tank that had to be resealed after springing a leak so I know what to look for and this little tank is very high quality. I use it for a gourami that hates everyone and everything besides his plant, so I had to remove him from my large tank and he’s been far less stressed and happy alone in this tank.

With this tank to do you want to use both the filters the biomax and the carbon one?

  1. Yes! I've found that my water has never gotten the slightest bit hazy using both, it's a great system. I tend to just rinse off the black media filter though.

What size heater is recommended for the 9 gallon Fluval tank and is there an opening in the lid so it can be placed in tank and cord allowed to run to a nearby receptable?

  1. Yes there is a compartment that the heater goes in. I bout the 20 watts heater

Would this be a good tank for two mollies?

  1. Depends on size of mollies. 1 inch per gallon is recommended

Can this be used for a beta fish or is the filter too strong?

  1. It IS too strong as is, but you can modify it by putting sponges in the open spaces in the back to slow the flow, and the output nozzles can be manipulated towards the back. If you cycle your tank before you get the fish, which is recommended (find a reputable betta group for info, not a pet store employee) then that will help as the break in period helps with the flow as well.

Is it a glass or acrylic tank ?

  1. Ir is a quality bowed top to bottom. I have both and the glass is a bit thicker on the 15, but the 9 is great just less glass, quantity only, never sacrifice for standard!

If the filter cartridge reusable or does it require replacement cartridges?

  1. There is no "filter cartridge" for this setup its not an AIO printer. You need to physically add the bagged ceramic on bottom and carbon or just a nice piece of highly porous volcanic rock. They work amazing for so much bb can grow. I even put one in compartment 1, just for more bb! That keeps your tank "stable" which along with stable temp is all you need. Check your water weekly or bi-weekly, but check it else you have no idea what's in the water!
