Fire hazard

Do not buy. Had this tank 6 months. It leaked over the top when we got it and we filed a claim to get the filter compartment replaced. Two fish have died in it with no explanation. Last night it started melting and smoking. Likely would have caught fire if we weren’t home. Smelled strong chemical odor and it killed two more fish. Filed another claim, but not holding out hope for any compensation.

Faulty tank heater killed my fish

I bought this shortly after I was gifted a beta back in January. I kept the water/tank clean and was mindful of everything. I frequently checked temp. Yesterday I walked into check on my beta in the morning and saw black smoke billowing out of the back of my tank. The water had also turned black and my fish had been cooked to death. Please do not trust the cheap heater that comes with the tank. It should last longer than four months without you having to fear that your fish will be killed.

This tank size is unethically small. Disappointing from a brand like Fluval.

Good features but beware of heater

Pros: I really like the slow filter tailored to Betta's- that was one of my top concerns since my old Betta's was injured by his filter. I also like that the light is specific to Betta's, and that the filtration system & heater are all closed off from the Betta's enclosure and don't take up any of his space. Cons: The heater is not reliable - it's supposed to keep it at 78 but I used a thermometer to check it after it had been in for a couple days and my tank was over 83!!! I wish this had a higher quality heater that could be adjusted. I'm having to replace mine. I also wish that fluval had a Betta specific tank that was a bit larger. I also wish that there was some sort of mesh screen cover for the opening under the light - I'm paranoid about my Betta jumping out.

Not terrible

Tank is nice but has no surface agitation at all. So I'm having issues with oil 🙄 I'm in the process of finding a spray bar to agitate the water. Overall nice but definitely needs a better filtering system.

Perfect for my boy

Works great for my boy, he’s healthy and active. Living in a fully planted tank with some ramshorn snails, the filter works great and isn’t too strong for him. He has a floating log to sleep in and a little “apartment” above the tank which he enjoys. I did switch the light out to be able to grow the plants, replaced the light with a small clip on aqueon for plants.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Got this tank about 3 years ago. I love it. Easy to maintain and my betta and algae eater lived for 3 years. In my other tanks my fish didn't live that long.

Where the small sponge and heater compartment go, is it supposed to be submerged as well? Just filled my tank up and the heater and filter are completely underwater, don’t know how I would fix that if it’s wrong.

  1. Yes everything goes underwater and works perfectly well.

Where can I buy replacement filters I think the number is A1337 I love the tank but cannot find replacement filters

  1. SKU 3447297, Fluval Betta Diffusion Chamber Filter Pad

Is this a touch on and off light? Mine doesn’t respond to touch. Only can plug in or unplug?

  1. It's touch

how many cords do I need to plug in? is everything attached to one power source and one plug?

  1. 3 total. One for the filter, one for the light & one for the heater. (ps - this is best betta tank I’ve ever had, I now have 2.)

Does anyone else's tank lean towards the back? The plastic rim on the bottom seems to be attached to the glass in the front but not the back so it ends up being slightly slanted.

  1. It does not. Stands straight on all sides.

Is the light bright enough to grow live plants?

  1. I found the light was not strong enough however switching it for an aqueon light for plants (found on chewy for ~$32) my plants are now growing like crazy!

can anyone find the filter replacements for this tank?

  1. I contacted Fluval directly, they have the diffusion chamber polyfoam pad (A1337) in stock.

What is the heater setting? "Perfect for Betta" doesn't really tell me what I want to know.

  1. It's preset to a range of 78-80 degree ...... it includes a 10 watt fluval heater
