Reasonable replacement, not as good as original though, and degrades noticeably faster. So my recommendation is to stick with original for as long as it is OK, then buy this one.

My poor Betta couldnt handle the large filter on his 5gal tank, even on the slowest setting. The aquatics specialist recommended I use filter foam to cover the intake and output for the pump. This foam was only about $5 and works perfectly. I could easily tear a piece by hand or cut it, and its just soft enough to squeeze it near where water flows into the filter pump motor and where the clean water comes out at the top. I can see water still comes through but slow enough that my Betta isnt swept away! He is so happy now that I can turn the filter on.

Catches fine to large debris usually good for one to two cleanings depending on the number of fish. Easy to clean just rinse under running tap water until clean.

Thank you for your question. The difference in the texture does not affect the efficiency of the filter, and these are the recommended replacement filters although slightly different in texture.

If you order the filter pad that fits both the 206 and 306 than it should fit. They are the same size and fit both filters
