Recently prescribed Prozac 30mg daily for anxiety, currently day ten but experiencing loss of appetite, is temporary? Been adding wet/broth to kibble.
Without going into detail, I decided it worth trying prozac on a cat that should be social enough but is not. She is 9, I've had her for 5. I am concerned about the vet assigned dosage: 5 mg, every 12 hours...=10mg per day. I vaguely recall taking it myself way back & I think it was 5 mg per day. I am trying to avoid a tense convo w/the vet. I will just find another if this dosage is as crazy as I think it is. Please advise.
Is 20mg of flouxetine a safe dose for a 47 lb. American Foxhound given once s day? Also is trazadone 50mg once daily safe to use with flouxetine?
My yorkie was prescribed 5 mg of fluoxetine daily for severe separation anxiety. I’ve been breaking 10 mg capsules and wrapping the meds in meat, two meat balls per capsule. For convenience I’ve prepared up to ten balls in advance. It recently occurred to me that the meat might change the chemical composition of the meds. Is this a concern?
My cat is prescribed ear drops, and erythromycin ointment for conjunctivitis. He tolerates these medications well except for some drooling. Today I added fluoxetine, for anxiety. I have an oral solution and I gave 2.5 mg In 0.6 ml. The syringe I used, though new, was not of great quality and the medication was given in a burst (very fast like a spray). After this my cat darted off and began foaming at the mouth. This lasted only a period of minutes and my cat is now behacing normally. Thoughts?
Amitriptyline vs. Fluoxetine? Is one better or safer than the other for a cat? I'm not crazy about the idea of giving anti anxiety medication to my cat in the first place, so I want to make sure I'm giving her the safest one available.

My dog has been taking Fluoxetine for almost 3 weeks now for anxiety and obsessive behavior. This was recommended by his trainer & I have reluctantly agreed. Side effects were immediate. Loss of appetite and very sluggish. His appetite has improved a bit and outdoors he still is very active. Inside he has not played with any of his toys since he has been on the meds. He also is a bit restless at night changing his sleeping area. Wondering what to expect next? Heard it could take months

My dog recently had a focal seizure (never had a seizure before) and during the vet visit he was prescribed Prozac. I've read Prozac shouldn't be given to dogs with a history of seizures. Should I stop giving it to him? He's 85 lbs and is taking 40 mg a day (is that considered a high or low dose?)
