Gently screw your bulb into the ceramic socket. Do not plug lamp into an electrical socket until bulb is fastened firmly to fixture. (Do not overtighten bulb) Insert bulb protector wire guide to reflector. Hang light fixture securely in the area of your animal's space and then turn on. Allow area to heat for 15 minutes, then measure floor temperature under the bulb to determine that it is appropriate for your chickens or other pet. Always provide a cooler area for your animals to retreat to avoid overheating. Do not use a bulb over 250 watts. Note: To extend the life of your bulb, do not move fixture. If you need to move fixture, turn off lamp, let bulb cool then move gently.
