The Blue Throat Trigger is a striking fish that will bring a lot of attention to your aquarium! Be sure not to keep them with smaller or timid fish that could be harassed or even eaten. Aggression can be amplified in smaller tanks. They like to pick on smaller sessile invertebrates and tip other things like corals while exploring, so this trigger is not considered reef safe. Ensure the rockwork has ample hiding places, though they are known to rearrange rockwork. For continued health provide a varied diet of meaty foods, such as chopped seafood, multiple times a day. Since they have teeth, the Blue Throat needs to be fed foods with a shell to keep them from overgrowing. A good time to work in aquariums that have triggerfish in them is after feeding. They will grow to be a large size of 9" and will need ample swimming space. Full grown adults of this trigger will need around 125 gallons. They have a gray body covered with small blue spots. The males have a deep blue throat.

ACCLIMATION: Allow the sealed bag with your new fish to float in your aquarium for at least 15 minutes (but no longer than one hour) to ensure the water in the bag matches the temperature in your aquarium. For new aquariums, adding new fish slowly helps to properly develop the nitrogen cycle, which creates a safe environment for your aquatic pets. A bacteria booster may also help develop a new aquarium for your new fish. Petco offers free water testing in store to determine if your water is safe. DIET: A well-balanced diet consists of a variety of flakes, pellets, freeze-dried, and frozen food, depending on the species. FEEDING: Feed sparingly and no more than fish can eat in 1-2 minutes. Overfeeding can quickly foul the water, especially in smaller, unfiltered aquariums.
Cautionary note, all triggers have sharp teeth and may bite when they feel threatened, use caution when working in the aquarium.

Hello. My turtle has a red stain/mark along her "lip" on the left hand side. Tried cleaning it with a qtip but it didn't come off. This must have appeared within the last 2-3 days. She lives outside in a filtered and heated pond with my other (male) turtle and they sometimes fight over food, she also randomly bites hard things. I give them kale/spinach/fruit and they hunt slugs, snails and other insects. She's acting completely normal and feeding fine. Is this an injury or is it something else?
