Felimazole treats hyperthyroidism in cats, a condition in which too much thyroid hormone is produced. It will not cure the disease, but will usually control it if given for the rest of the cat's life.

Felimazole tablets are given by mouth. Methimazole, the active ingredient, is very bitter. Felimazole comes as a coated tablet for ease of administration. Do not break or crush the tablet. Always follow the dosage instructions provided by your veterinarian. If you have difficulty giving the medication, contact your veterinarian. Wash hands with soap and water after giving the medication. Blood levels of thyroid hormone will be checked by your veterinarian at regular intervals, and the dose increased or decreased as needed. The lowest effective dose should be used. This medication should only be given to the pet for whom it was prescribed.

My 11 y/o male cat is taking 12.5 mg of Felimazole a day and now is lethargic, no appetite, but drinks water... Too high of dose possibly?? He seemed fine until a few days ago..
My cat has been prescribed 2.5 mg of Felimazole twice daily for hyperthyroidism. How long does the Felimazole stay active in the cat’s bloodstream? The reason for the question is that when I need to be away from, I have a cat sitter that comes in once a day to tend to the cat. Should she double the dose (5 mg), or stay with a single 2.5 mg pill?
Can you give me some info on dexocycling 50mg for cats? I have a 11 mth that started last month with a 103 temp, 3rd eyelids exposed, had covenia shot, and week later steroid shot, nothing helped. Today had test, bloodwork fine, neg on felv and fiv. Lost half pound also. Since fuo Vet thinks toxoplasmosis and prescribed this. Since cant dry pill, would a syringe with water after pill work? Hes not into treats n not eating much. Can pill be crushed? Thank you.
My 16 year old cat has been on methimazole for hyper thyroidism. She currently takes 3.75 mg/day. She has been taking it for about 9 months and her dosage started at 2.5 mg/day. Our vet suggests continuing with this therapy indefinitely, but I see some info online that radiotherapy has better results and we could pay for that if it’s substantially better. Looking for a second informed opinion. Does methimazole have any advantages over radiotherapy? Thank you, David
My cat accidentally took my other cats pills. 2.5mg of methimazole and 1.25mg of prednisolone.
5.5 kgs(12 pounds) neutered male 8 years old tabby cat.(was neutered at 7 months old). He has an epileptic seizure every 8 hours. We have the footage of the seizure and can send it if requested. Veterinarian suggested Tegretol (includes Carbamazepine), and said we should give him 0.1 mililiters orally and also said even 1 dose can be lethal. What do you suggest?
Where can I get amorazole tablet for my dog on line
Hi! Tony takes methimazole 5mg, 1/2 in the AM and I/2 in the PM and tumil-k tablets, one in the AM and one in the PM.. my question is, how strict are the administration times ... exactly every 12 hours or can it between every 9-12 hours? Thank you!
Is it safe to use this medicine to treat rabbit E. cunniculi? Of course, in rabbit safe dose of 10-20mg/kg. Medicine contains 250mg ferbendazole and other ingredients are: Lactose, monohydrate; starch, corn; silicon dioxide, colloidal, anhydrous; hydroxyethylcellulose; sodium starch glycolate (type A); magnesium stearate.
My vet recommended that my cat take famotidine. I thought he said to give her 10mg, but now I’m reading that she should only have 2.5-5mg. Since I have her 10mg, do I need to worry about her having serious side effects or being poisoned by it?
My cat takes 1/2 of a 125 mg tablet of Famciclovir once a day. Tonight we had problems give it to him and we swore it fell on the floor. So I took another 1/2 pill and give to him. Now we can't find the one we thought fell on the floor. If he got both 1/2 pills, that is a total of 125mg today. Is that too much?
My dog is prescribed vitofyllin 50mg and dose of 1.5 tablets twice daily. She weighs 13.8kg. Is that correct?
