Feather Dusters are beautiful and hardy sessile filter feeders. They are very appealing to the hobbyists due to their unique structure and fan-like cilias. Like any invertebrate, they need higher salinity than fish, and they don't tolerate copper at all. Most aquarists should have no problem keeping these alive in their aquarium with no special attention, as feathers will usually get enough food from fish waste and fine food particles. Nevertheless, for best health and growth, weekly feedings with a small particle food, like zooplankton, is recommended. When stressed or frightened, the Feather Duster will retract into its tube for protection. Also, do not be alarmed if you see this worm outside of its tube, because they will occasionally leave it for a better location with a stronger current. They can build a transparent tube in a few hours and will use detritus and sand to coat that tube.

ACCLIMATION: Avoid exposing new aquatic life to bright lights after opening the box. Turn off aquarium lights prior to floating aquatic life. Allow the sealed bag with your new fish to float in your aquarium for at least 15 minutes (but no longer than one hour) to ensure the water in the bag matches the temperature in your aquarium. A bacteria booster addition can assist with the addition of new aquatic life. Petco offers free water testing in store to determine if your water is safe for the addition of new aquatic life. DIET: A well-balanced diet consists of a variety of flakes, pellets, freeze-dried and frozen foods, depending on the species. FEEDING: Feed sparingly and no more than fish can eat in 1-2 minutes. Overfeeding can quickly foul the water, especially in smaller aquariums.
If we need to contact you for any reason about your order, shipping of your package may be affected. Once your order is placed, you will receive a confirmation email with your order summary. Orders are subject to verification of payment information by phone or email. We ship for arrival to the customer Tuesday through Friday and Saturday for an extra charge where available.

My Lesser Masked Weaver female is spinning on her back in circles, almost as if she is having seizures. Is this normal or is it a sign of a serious illness? She also showed signs of drooping wings today not sure if it was after she splashed some water and was trying to dry. She also has some bald spots, especially on her chest where the feathers do not seem to want to grow back. Should I be worried as we do not have any Avian Vets nearby at all?
