Of course it's not a real moss ball but whatever is in it took that aquarium smell away that was bothering me. I have shrimp that like to pick around on it, it doesn't look bad in the tank. I'm not sure it did anything else though.

I received this product and they was out the package when I opened the box, I have a 75gallon tank with two red ear sliders turtles, I always put three of the moss balls in the tank, I clean thew tank every week, when I put the moss balls in there they floated to the top the whole week they was in there and it didn't perform the job that the product normally does, this was the first time I had this problem with the moss balls. I was very disappointed with the product and with Petco, when I ordered the moss balls from chewy I didn't have this problem

At first she wouldn’t stay away from it she loved it. So to find her next to the moss ball the next morning didn’t seem weird until I noticed all her color was gone.. she was dead. The only thing I did was add this ball.

For some reason, mine is just floating, not sinking for 2 weeks now

We put this in our betta's 5 gallon tank and he got fin and tail rot immediately, and died about a week later while we were trying to treat him. In retrospect it would have been smart to sterilize it with a saline solution or something, before putting it in the tank, but it just have had some bacteria in it.

It's not the alive version that I thought I was buying. So no I'm not happy with it.

The moss balls work very well in my turtle tank to control waste and odor.
