I use it for my Blue and Red Iguanas

Iggys

I have used this substrate for my five iguanas, two blue and three reds. I mix it with the plantation soil. Both combined help with humidity levels, retains moisture well, doesn't mold, smells fresh and it allows the females to naturally burrow well if you build it deep enough. I recommend it highly if you have iguanas.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Best Substrate for Ball Pythons

This is the most ideal substrate for ball pythons (ignore petco and petsmart care guides), it holds humidity well and is very affordable. I needed it pretty immediately to cool down my snake's hide during the heat wave. I will say though I was surprised that it didn't come in the compressed brick form; there was much less in the bag than a much cheaper compressed block of coco husk - i hope they start carrying those in the future (different than coco fiber).

No, I do not recommend this product.

Would this be good for Russian Tortoises?

can I use this for my cresty?

    1. I used it with my cresty for years. It holds moisture well without molding. The only disadvantage is that if the cresty misses a cricket, they may get a mouthful of substrate (no biggie).

Is this good substrate for mushrooms or does it contain a fungicide?

    1. That's a cool question. I used to grow shrooms in college, and I used brown rice cakes as a substrate. I wouldn't have thought to use this as a substrate. I'd offer that this likely has some sort of anti-fungal properties, whether they're synthetic and added, or if they occur naturally I don't know, but I've kept tarantulas on this substrate for years, literally, and it never grew any fungus, even when consistently damp. IMO, this indicates there's no nutrients available or it's a pro fungal environment.

Would this is be good for hermit crabs?

    1. yes it holds heat and i have 2 hermit crabs that love to burrow in this.

Would this be good for my Ball Python?

    1. Yes. It holds moisture, helps with odor control, and helps remove shedding skin too.

Would this be good for a bearded dragon?

    1. No, loose substrate is not recommended for bearded dragons. Acceptable substrates are reptile carpet, tile, paper towels, or non adhesive shelf liner.

Would this be good for Leopard Geckos??
