Very decent cat tree. Our cat loves the scratching ramp (very easy to maintain) and the feathers on a chain lasted 2 months! Much longer than I expected them to last.

When I brought this cat tree home from the store, Cody, our teenage kitten, immediately jumped up and pulled off the feather dangle, which has become his favorite toy. Having the additional ramp also gives him a chance to hug, play and scratch; it's quite amusing. He uses both the cardboard and the carpeted scratching posts and loves to sit on "top of the world" in the morning after breakfast. He is new to our home and we were worred about having our upholstered furniture ruined by his claws. So far, it's this cat tree that he prefers.

I bought this smaller, space saving cat tree for my 1 yr old and the 2 new 5 month old kittens we just adopted. They are all very interested in it and the angled scratcher is great and all 3 use it but I noticed that the two tiers are the same size which makes it slightly difficult for any of the cats, even the flexible active kittens, to get from the middle tier to the top tier. The kittens just leap to the top from the floor but my 1 yr old bob tail has difficulty getting to the top. The middle tier should be slightly larger or angled in a way that gives them an easier way to get from middle to top. However, it was the sturdiest tree in the store and the only one that didnt wobble and didnt have a bunch of exposed staples.

Can the topmost shelf of this scratcher tower be removed? The lower tier would be the perfect height for our cat to look out the window, but the upper tier would make that difficult. I wish there was a version made without that top tier.

i think you could remove this, but you would have to then refinish the top post. it's made very well so you may have your work cut out trying to remove it!

The top shelf is 16" x 14". The middle shelf is just barely larger at 15" x 16 3/4".
