this product is good for our hamster as it gives him another level however he keeps falling through the hole where the ramp is. he wont go down the ramp maybe because it seems too steep to him (he tried and lost his grip as its simply metal so almost like a slide and fell the rest of the way) if they would have included the option to remove the ramp and maybe included a cover for the area where the ramp would be i would say this is a 10/10 instead im having to find a way to cover it myself or return the product. I would definitely not get this for a small hamster. mine is a bigger hamster and still having issues getting down using the ramp. not worth the price unless they make some changes and include a way to cover it up.

I got the tank topper for my son’s gerbil tank as a way to keep the food and water up top and separate from the bedding. Which it does work good for. But the problem is the floor is solid plastic and the gerbils have taken to using the bathroom on the top level. Which means there is a lot to clean up daily on the plastic floor. Other than that I suppose it serves the purpose of giving the gerbils extra room to roam around. Although I wish I had just got the larger tank and built a wooden second level. Cost wise it would have been around the same.

This is nice, and I'm disappointed it's only made in a size that fits a 20 HIGH aquarium. Gerbils should really be kept in a 20 LONG!! They need horizontal space to run. But I'm still able to use this with a 20 Long by adding a small piece of wood, cardboard, etc to the gap. It fits a 20 Long perfectly on the 3 other sides. Highly recommend that if you buy the 20 gallon size, you get a 20 Long aquarium for your gerbils and make the EASY modification I did! Your gerbils will be much happier in a 20 long

I bought this a month ago, for a dwarf hamster and last night it tried getting out between the spacing of the bars and was able to get his whole body up to his head out, then getting stuck and ultimately passing away by time I found him. I now have to break it to my 10 year old that the pet she bought with her own allowance money died. This product specifically says it’s for small animals including hamsters and dwarf hamsters, and it is absolutely dangerous for them. They need to remove this product or at minimum take off small animals like hamsters, gerbils, etc and put a warning to prevent and future animal deaths.

I did call to ensure that this topper fits the Aqueon 20 gallon tall tank and the associate told me that it would. I bought it and assembled it and it fits perfectly on the 20 gallon tall tank. You have to make sure that it’s the tall tank and not the long tank. The gerbils seems happy and are able to use the ramp so it’s a plus :) I would highly recommend it to everyone.

Bought with 20 gallon tank - does not fit! Too small! Make the store unpack and show you that it fits before you buy. In the box it says “good for 20 gallon tank. And that’s false. It’s too small.

I received this product for free and exchange for an honest review. To be honest I have not used this particular one yet when I saw that I could get it I jumped on it because I want to get my kids gerbils for their birthday(s) but it was a few months out. I didn't hesitate on it though because I bought this product before when I had rats and when they were really little I'd had them in a tank and wanted to give them more room and this was the perfect solution. My rats absolutely loved it it was a great place to put their food without shavings getting in. It was easier to interact with them without having to take them out all the time. I highly recommend this product for small mammals in tanks.

I really love this topper and is so well planned out. I like that the flooring part is solid, not just bars, so little feet don’t get caught. The tube is a great addition, and it comes apart easy for cleaning. The ramp is also solid with little bumps to grip getting up the ramp. The entire thing collapses down if you need to store it. Great size.
