Honestly, we ordered this for our dog and waited over a month for it to arrive. After several emails back and forth with support they told us that they had changed their shipping process or something? By the time we were offered a new test in which we’d have to wait for and send back in and wait for the results… it would have been four months since we even sent the DNA test in! We ended up getting a refund for it. My advice is that if you don’t want to wait 4+ months, probably find another. We still don’t know our dog’s DNA because we were so off put by the experience.

The product did not exist in Embark’s website database. We have had to work with the company to try and have a replacement sent. While this is not directly Petcos fault we can’t give more than 1 star

We got our girl when she was 2 months old. Owner said both parents were chihuahua. As she got older we thought no way lol maybe mom was. So we did the test and we were wowed. She will be 1 yr old 7-25-22.

I was skeptical about doing this test kit, but I have heard Embark is one of the two top testing sites. I was blown away by the results and thought the results were wrong. (I had found my dog (his mom and three siblings) in the woods, as a drop off. I was told they looked like Border Collite, Terrier mix. The results came back as Chinese Crested (65%), 16.5% American Pit Bull Terrier. So I looked up Chinese Crested and he is the Powder Puff. Looks just like him. But what was the clincher that confirmed it for me, was I found one of the dogs that I had trapped with Animal Control and he is almost the same exact results. I have also just requested the Health analysis.

can this test work on Bully Pit Bulls
- Yes it worked on ours. She was only about 9 weeks old when we did it and it was what we thought and the Bully was 46.8 % she was a rescue and was told she was bully.

Does this test tell me if my French Bulldog is purebred ?
- Embark should not be used to determine purebred status. Purebred status is defined by a breed registry alone. Our algorithms are designed to assign ancestry based on a dog’s genetic similarity to our reference database of purebred dogs representing over 350 breeds, landraces, and populations. But, we can confidently rule out other breed ancestry within three generations.

I want to test both my dogs. They came in together to the shelter and they said they were brothers. Will it show if they are directly related?
- Yes. Only Embark offers the ability to find your dog’s relatives. Embark's test will tell you how much DNA your dog shares with other Embark dogs in our database, and will offer you the ability to connect directly with them.

Does this test show the dogs age?
- From prior answers they said it doesn’t show the age of the dog. Although it would be a great feature being a lot of people adopt such as myself and was quoted from 3 different vets between the age of 4 and 7.

- No, Embark uses a saliva sample. At this time, we're not able to use a hair sample for DNA analysis.

Does the test indicate if there is a MDR1 mutation gene?
- No, for an MDR1 test, you'll need to purchase the Breed & Health Kit. This kit only looks at breed ancestry and your pup's family tree.
