Questions
Is this product the FIJI PINK variety?
Probably a dumb question. but can I use this to start up a freshwater tank?
I have a brackish water set up for fugu puffer fish is nature’s ocean a good choice
My "gomer" self bought a bag from an online site with no returns. I realize now it's for salt water fish. Well Surprise, Surprise, Surprise, I wasted money didnt I? Can I use this mixed, perhaps 1:4 ratio with fresh water sand? No huh? PH levels? :-( smh
Is it thick grain?
- Hi Anonymous, The grain size is 0.5-1.7mm. This can be considered thick grain. Thanks,

How many bags would I need for a 90 gallon tank? I don't want to make it thick.
- Five bags actually, as each bag is 20 pounds. You could save half of the 5th bag to make it exactly 90 pounds.

Would the substrate be too rough for a sand-sifting species?
- Its a really fine sand. Dragonets, gobies will have no problems with it. Sand is not hard to clean. This is part of your weekly water changes. Get a good siphon, and it will do all the work. Reef cleaners such as hermits and snails will go a long ways to keeping sand fresh.

Gobbies
- Yes. The grains are pretty fine.. So they won't have a problem.

how many pound of ocean bio-active reef substrate will i need for 75 gallon?
- Depends on dimensions of tank, and how deep you want it. If you put your Live rock in first, you will use less sand. My 75 gallon flat back hex used 70 lbs of sand. So roughly 1lbs per gallon. Some may say 2lbs per gallon, but you need a tall tank for that to really work.

about sand bed
- its not recommended to add sand over an existing sand bed. If you have been running it successfully for a couple of years, there should be no reason to mess with the sand bed now.
