Works but hard to clean

Just bought this for our senior cat who is having accidents outside her litter box. The mat works and keeps the urine from leaking through. However when we went to wash it, it made our washing machine smell funny, like plastic and urine. So I would suggest hand washing instead of putting in the washing machine.

Simple solution to catch litter

I bought this mat to catch the litter in the hallway under the litter box. It works very well in our situation. It traps the litter as our cat leaves the box and the ridges in the mat make it easy to sweep the litter onto a dust pan. The backing on the mat is light and sometimes when our cat gets carried away covering up her mess and continues to claw outside the box on the mat it lifts up. A heavier backing might prevent this from occurring. Its not really a problem, but I've deducted a star because of this. I highly recommend this mat for a simple and inexpensive solution to capturing excess litter from your cats’ paws.

I've had this mat for about a year and really like the large size. I read someone else's review how they have more than one and rotate them periodically. I thought this was a good idea, so I got this second one.

This mat removes most of the litter that is trapped on my two cats’ feet. I use pine litter, which really sticks to their feet, which is why I said most. I have tried other types of mats; by far this is the best of the bunch. Fortunately, my kits are content to “keep it all in the box”, so I don’t have to worry about cleaning up/ removing any natural body actions, just the litter, so I haven’t had to wash the mat, yet. It seems that it would be an easy cleanup, though. The texture is that of a door mat, so my cats don’t try to avoid walking on it, either. Other reviews mention durability, or lack of; agin, my cats haven’t felt the need to scratch this mat.

Great mat to stop litter tracking

The large size is great for a hard surface floor. It's soft enough so if you step on it, it doesn't hurt and you don't even notice that there is litter trapped in it. I've only had it for a few weeks, but it's been great so far.

I've tried several litter mats and this one is, by far, the best. Although there is a bit of tracking (after all, I didn't expect a miracle, lol), it is minimal and my floors - and my kitties' paws - are much cleaner.

    20x28” The overall color is a medium dark heathered grey. Comprised of a mix of light to medium grays—and dark greys to almost black.

what is the backing material made of - pvc???

    The waterproof backing consists of a PVC material. Our backing is unique because it is a special liquid bonded process, which keeps the backing tightly bonded to the mat. This prevents the backing from coming off, separating and sticking to the floor.

Can I place this in the bottom of my rabbit cage? Instead of buying bedding? Would it work?

    No, you cannot. You need to change a rabbit's bedding at LEAST once daily. Plus, they eat carpet. My bun is litter box trained so if yours is you could put this UNDER the litterbox but it will still probably chew on it.

Would this work to place on the floor under a doggy potty pad? Especially if the dog is well trained to use the potty pad specifically, but occasionally it “drips” over.

    Maybe for small drips. It is meant to corral dry litter and, although better than a plastic tarp, it is not especially absorbent.

    Yes, it could help with this issue. However it can hold a limited amount of liquid, and once it reaches full capacity it could leak at its edge, as there is no “lip” or raised edge.

What is the waterproof backing made of? I am having new flooring installed and rubber or latex can discolor it. PVC material is approved, however.

    It is not rubber or latex. Probably PVC as the mat is made of recycled plastic bottle material.
