I bought 2 of these at a local store. 1 was given to me by a friend. 2 out of 3 stopped working in only a few months. TOTALLY NOT WORTH IT! I'd save your money.

Bought one last fall, plugged it in, it heated up and I rigged it to hang off the perch bar, so their feet stayed toasty and they missed it with their poops! Just bent some wire fencing to make a sling and to go around the perch.

I used one in my chicken coop. I had it too close to pine shavings. Long story short, the fire department had to come and I lost the entire contents inside of my coop. Nothing left but a soot covered shell of a building. Thankfully all the chickens were outside when it happened.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Works a little bit, for a little while.

Two years, switch is bad. Popped the cover off. Completely corroded. Not necessarily warm, maybe takes the edge off and makes our coop slightly warmer by putting a remote thermometer in there.

I bought this in December 2022 when we were expecting a major cold snap. It worked great when we needed it for that purpose. There is no temp regulation so it required a lot of manual monitoring and adjustments with the assistance of a thermometer in the coop. I just got it out for the season (it was stored in the garage) and the switch is no longer working. The indicator light only comes on in the off position and the panels won't heat at all regardless of the setting. It sounds like many reviewers experienced issues with the switch by the second or third season. Super disappointed that we only used it for 2-3 months one season and it's already useless. Buyer beware.

I have used two of these radiant heaters in my large chicken coop for when temps are close to zero or colder. They can get tipped over and be fine. They raise the coop temp a few degrees above outside and just make it a bit better for the chickens.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Would this be a good choice for mounting on the outside of an indoor parrot cage?

  1. Yes, that is what I use mine for. I have 3 parakeets and we keep them in the living room, it tends to get chilly in there so I got one of these for them. It works great!

Can you use an extention cord with it?

  1. The thicker the gage of the extension cord the better off you'll be. Small gage wires will go out and most likes burn up. Go with a heavy gage cord for anything. !!

Is it too hot to use in a cat house outdoors, like on the ceiling or a side wall?

  1. Nope, I use 2 of them for winter in my cat house outside. The heat radiates from one side, have had no problems running 2 of these in the same shelter. I have it for 3 cats, it keeps them warm enough on the coldest days Michigan throws at us. As a side note, I insulated the walls inside the shelter to keep the heat in. I hope this helps..

Can anyone tell me if this would be okay to use in a shed that stray cats have access too? Would it keep them warm enough?

  1. Yes, thats what I'm using this heater for

would you be able to use it in a greenhouse?
