If your pet is unfamiliar with a nail grinder, start by getting them accustomed to seeing the product (by placing in a visible location), then gradually move to turning it on to allow them to see, sniff, and get used to the sound. Once they become familiar, begin to use the nail grinder on a few nails at a time and then gradually move to the rest of the nails. When you need to replace the grinding band on the grinder, follow these steps: 1). Loosen the screw by turning it counterclockwise, 2). Once the screw is loosened, remove the grinding band from the grinding drum, 3). Place the new grinding band on the grinding drum 4). Tighten the screw by turning it clockwise to secure the grinding band.
Keep away from children.

can i use dog nail clippers to cut my guinea pigs nails there over grown
My cat’s nails need to be trimmed and I can’t do that. Is PETCO available to do nails for cats AND dogs too?
Have a spunky new rescue chihuahua mix and she is skittish. So much so she will resist any efforts to trim her nails. We have 4 dogs so I have trimmed nails hundreds of times--but with Ricki Ricardo, no luck. I sit on the floor and flip them over and cradle them between my legs. My wife distracts them with peanut butter on a spoon. Besides going to a groomer or vet, any ideas? I thought maybe a groomer table might help. Are there premium nail cutters of higher quality than store bought?
Can I clip my rabbit's nails myself?
I have a reactive dog. She can be selective with people, the times I have taken her to the vet she’s been ok with the handlers there. But she’s goes crazy when she sees other dogs. Ive always done her grooming myself, but she doesn’t let me do her nails. I want to take her to a groomer to get them done but I’m also considering just taking her to a vet for nail trims because I think it would be easier perhaps. which choice seems like the best route ?
Just got a Chihuahua 4 years old male. He has the Longest nails ever how do I know how far to cut his nails? Or is it better to leave it to the professionals? Really don't trust taking him to groomers what do you recommend?
Would my local pet store (PetSmart) be able to clip my guinea pigs nails? I know that they have grooming services for cats and dogs. I am worried that if I try myself, I will injure them.
My cat keeps biting her nails like he wants to yank them off? I cannot afford to take him to the groomer right now and have never clipped them myself. What can I do?
Our schnauzer has bad nails that seem to splinter break and twist off. We've been to the vet over a half a dozen times in the last 12 months. Our last visit due to a bad back nail the vet conceded that the last trim two weeks prior the nails were not properly trimmed and promised he had trimmed the nails himself. The back nail is no longer an issue however a front nail seems much too long to us and the dog is licking his paw and at the top of that nail specifically. Help what should we do!
My dog will not let anyone cut his nails. He is getting older and they seem to be growing faster than they used to. He gets very aggressive… nothing will work. Dremels, different kinds of clippers. What can I do. It seems it’s getting harder for him to jump and run they are getting so long.
I have been reading your tip on how to get your dog to have their claws cut without any problems. Part of the advice is to let your dog get used to the buzzing of the clippers on the dogs paw. I've never seen any clippers that buzz when cutting the claws as the only ones that buzz are for cutting the fur. As far as I know the nail cutting is done with something like scissors that has a part you can use to make sure you don't cut them too close to the quick of the claws.
My JRT Kiki's nails need constant clipping. They grow like wildfire which means regular visits to the groomers (i am too afraid). She has black nails which makes life harder. Groomer suggested i take her to vet to get them clipped and vet can then cauterize them if they bleed? Any suggestions welcome?
