Cerenia is given orally. For motion sickness, this medication can be given once a day for up to two days in a row. Dogs should not be fed 1 hour prior to giving Cerenia. Give Cerenia 2 hours prior to travel. Do not wrap the tablets tightly in fatty food such as cheese or meat, since this may keep the tablets from dissolving and delay the effect of Cerenia. Always follow the dosage instructions provided by your veterinarian. If you have difficulty giving the medication, contact your veterinarian. This medication should only be given to the pet for whom it was prescribed.

How long does a dose last? How early should we give to our dog before driving
- I gave our 40 pound dog a dose two hours before driving with about a 1/3 of her food. I know it says no food with the drug instructions, but other information sources suggested food. The first time she had it she wasn't interested in eating or drinking on the 12 hour ca ride; the second she did. Dose lasts at least 12 hours.
