We run a rescue with free roaming cats on property. They like the flowing water to quench their thirst. Favorite waterfall.

Only one problem with my new fountain

Nancy H.

This is my second flower fountain and my cat loves it. The first one just got old after 9 years. Only problem I had when I received this one is the pump did not have enough pressure to push the water up through the flower to work. Luckily we still had the old pump from the first fountain and we are using it.

Hello Nancy! We thank you for taking the time to contact us. This may be due to the flow control on the front of the pump. Please take a look at the vented side. This will have a lever in between a plus and a minus sign. Please make sure this is all the way to the plus side.

Do not like the pump switch

I bought two from chewy. 1 for my sisters 4 cats and 1 for my 6 cats. After 2 days my sisters started getting loud so she checked it and the container was hot and so was the water. So she unplugged it and brought it to me. I refilled it and watched it for days to figure out what had happened cause mine was working great. It is the GENERIC PUMP SWITCH. I only gave a 4 star cause the pump switch could be made better to not move when the water flows. Depending on the water current it causes the pump switch to shut off. Even though I told my sister this she still will not take the fountain back just due to the fact the water got hot and her babies could have gotten hurt. You need to make a better switch on these make one that will not move unless you push the switch. I am constantly having to check my water now to make sure it is still cold. Any movement of the container causes the water to swish and in return the switch to float in the water. I do not like that.

Do not buy!!! Mold!!!

Do not buy the fountain!!!!! The water fountain kept developing alot of mold & its everywhere. The filter is new& clean not sure why or how it got mold on it. I had to deep clean it 4x a week to prevent the mold to happen but enough is enough I shouldn't be cleaning it 4x a week, my cat is not safe she can die from it. Also I’m not the only one who has this problem and i had to throw it away, waste of money

Hello Dani, we are truly sorry to hear about your experience with the fountain. Warmer weather or humidity can be a factor. The same goes if your fountain is used by dogs, multiple cats, or cats that have access to the outdoors. These factors may cause your fountain to require more frequent cleaning. We recommend placing your fountain in a cool spot, away from direct sunlight, and try not to let the water level get too low. Be sure to rinse the filter and disassemble the complete fountain for a thorough cleaning weekly. The filter should be replaced monthly. Keep the fountain running at all times, and only turn off and unplug the fountain for refilling and cleaning.

My cat fear this. Maybe better design. It design too high and color maybe wired to the cat. My friend's cat doesn't like this too.

Love that the water stays clean. My boy loves to dip his paws into the water which caused a dirty pool in my previous fountain.

Questions

Hi there - I received my water fountain and the filter has some orange and black in it - it isn't just white. Is this ok to use or is this the presence of mold?

How much water do I fill in it and does that brown block with 4 suction cups stay at the bottom?

    1. I can't remember/don't know how much water goes in since I will fill from the sink most of the way after I clean the fountain or when I first set it up. I will say that it holds quite a bit of water, and I check the level daily to see if I need to top it off with additional water. Maybe a quart or so? For the suction cups, they do stick to the bottom, and I wiggle it a little to unstick when I disassemble to clean. When I reassemble, I just press it back down and make sure I feel it stick - but I don't have to be too careful about drying the surface before re-sticking.

How much water does it hold?

    1. Around a gallon. Great product, go for it. I have 3 and my cats love it.

Do I have to buy that plastic thing that the filter is on when I bought it or do I rip off the old filter and put on a new filter please answer as soon as possible pleade

    1. The filter comes on the plastic piece. You just throw away the old and put the whole new one in. I hope that helps!

I've got 3 cats. Is this big enough for that many?

    1. Its pretty huge, as far as cat water fountains go. But it's advisable to have more than one water source (bowl, fountain, etc) for your cat(s). I have a water bowl next to my cats food bowl, as well as another bowl, placed at the far side of my kitchen, & my CATIT flower fountain is in the living room, with another water fountain placed about a yard away.from it.(one to the left & one to the right, of his little cat house.)

Can you use the fountain without the filter? I will be giving my cats distilled water, as suggested for proper urine pH, so I won't need the water to be filtered.

    1. Yes, will work without filter

    Is this BPA-free&/or phalate-free?

    1. The manufacturer states it is BPA-Free and Lead-Free

How often should you change the water?

    1. I clean it out and change the water once a week. My cats are always drinking out of it so I have to add water after a few days. It's a great fountain! And yes, the filter is to be changed once a month. It'll need it!

Will the fountain automatically turn off of water gets too low? Or will the pump keep running?

    1. I think it keeps running - it gets very noisy with splash sounds when the water is low which is a reminder to fill it back up.

How do I adjust the water flow setting?

    1. You CAN adjust the flow. On the water pump mechanism there is a very small lever that slides from left to right. One side shows (-) and the other side (+). Try that out!
